Amiibo Thread 3 | Where release dates are made up and preorders don't matter!

I am super jealous of anyone who was able to get the Skull Kid edition of Majora's Mask. Has anyone heard of any possible way of getting one tomorrow? I managed to get the system, but really really really want the game to display alongside my Wind Waker LE.

Unless you live near a Fry's, you're probably not going to be able to buy one.

If you have a Fry's Electronics in your area, they will be selling them tomorrow in store. That's what I am going to do. People are also speculating that it may come back in stock at gamestop.com like Shulk did today.
 
Still not sure if this is allowed, but no one notified me otherwise. Seemed to get some good support the first time I posted, so figured I'll repost. I won't post anymore after this though.

Hey guys, I'm not entirely sure this is allowed or not, since it is a bit of self promotion...so delete if need be. Please read full post though.

*Full disclaimer, since I want to be totally honest and upfront, this could benefit me. 50% of all donations made Sun-Fri go to Child's Play Charity the other 50% to my stream, and 100% of donations made on Saturday go directly to Child's Play. So potentially 100% of all donations could go to charity if everyone donates on Saturday.

I will be giving away a TOON LINK Amiibo on my twitch stream if I raise $25 in donations between now and Saturday 11:59 PST. A $1 minimum donation is required to enter. Winners will be announced Sunday night. If you make a donation, please make sure I can identify you somehow via your donation.

My time has been consumed with the Majoras Mask thread lol

Hmmm. 6 hrs and 40 minutes to the closest one. I would consider 3 hours. Probably not close to 7.

I will keep an eye on Gamestop. Thanks! I did get lucky with the Wind Waker LE in that someone didn't pick up their pre-order and I swooped in and got it a few days after it released. I'm not going to count on that happening again.

I'd be calling the district manager on that store seems like they were just gonna buy your Shulks and two days is a long time for the store manager not to make sure you were called that would be a big red flag. If you have other stuff ordered there I would talk to the store manager or higher.

I'd be so angry. My local GameStop have been great with my orders and even let me pick if I was picky about paint jobs (I'm not) and call me right away. No one is perfect but they are good peoples.

Most Gamestops got their Shulks in on Wednesday. I never got a text or call either, but went to my GS that day to pick up my pre-order. They most likely should have your pre-order.

I hear you, but I feel like that also makes me a terrible collector. I open every amiibo as soon as I get it and haven't bothered keeping the boxes, as nice as they look... I just don't have room for them, really, and it's just clutter. I know that makes their resale value plummet, but I don't plan on selling them anyway, so I'd rather display them on a shelf (and use them, occasionally!) in all their out-of-box glory. But then I see amiiboGAF with their amazing boxed amiibo displays and I wonder if I'm doing it wrong. :P

I did very carefully open Mega Man's package so I could keep the back of the box intact, though. Mega Man in Smash is still such a momentous, dream-come-true thing for me that I want to keep all the memorabilia about it that I can, because who knows if it'll happen again!

Well, it's the release date for those three, as well as Dedede, but it doesn't sound like many TRUs got many extras past their pre-orders. My TRU doesn't have any extra Ike, and only 2 extra Dedede. Most of what they received is for pre-orders.

I'm on my work laptop right now. For some reason, they block Gamestop, but not GAF.

I honestly don't think this is the last we've seen of Shulk. I'd put money on there being one more batch stealth shipped to stores either when Xenoblade 3DS actually launches (today's preorders come out almost a month later) or when Xenobloade X comes out later in the year.

Or, well, I'd like to dream at least. The stock numbers on these retailer exclusives is pathetic.

It SHOULD be the other way around here. GS needs to be up because of my line of work. But I guess GAF just missed the filters. Reddit too. I have no idea how I'm as productive as I am, heh.

I agree; I said much the same thing a few pages back. The way they've been pushing the Shulk amiibo compatibility with Xenoblade Chronicles 3D makes me think they're going to try and actually have more of them available so people can make use of that functionality.

Of course, that just makes sense, and literally nothing about the way Nintendo has handled amiibo rollout makes even the slightest bit of sense, so...

My local TRU said they have only 1 Sonic for non-preorders tomorrow. I think that goes for Mega Man and the other wave 4's also.
 
Oh boy, I just had the worst experience at Gamestop:


I went in to order a Shulk Amiibo. Once I was able to get the attention of an employee (one of them was playing a video game on a tablet and not helping me) the transaction went through as normal until the employee chose to process it as cash even though I had said I was using a credit card. I never carry cash with me and there was nowhere close by to withdraw cash.

This resulted in a 45 minute wait for him to call a customer service number so he could void the transaction. They gave me no other options besides waiting and wasting my time. Eventually the employee actually offered to pay for my order with cash if I would use my card to pay for his order. Seriously, wtf?

I wrote an email to corporate because that was ridiculous.

that's insane. definitely report that store's incompetence.
 
Also another thing to note, when I went to GS to preorder Shulk, it was the first time I saw that they didn't have the regular link amiibo available in store.

Switch Mr. G&W and Jigglypuff and maybe add Mewtwo to Wave 6 and that's about what I expect.

Really hope they don't do a 13-14 character final wave... would be hell to afford, and hell to obtain them all...

I feel like I'm splurging picking up a couple Amiibos myself and then I see posts like this. :)

Is it just me or is Dedede super heavy? Like 2-3x heavier than the other ones I have.

Doubtful they'll do two Pokemon in one wave, they're bound to be the more popular ones.
 
Debating if I want to get up and look for ike at tru tmrw before work. I want him but at the same time I'm hesitant because of derpiness.

I suppose. Depends on what The Pokemon Company wants to do I guess.

I'm kinda just hoping they get all of the Smash amiibos out by June. Sooner the better and 6-7 amiibos per month sounds good to me.

Getting up to head over to Target at 5:30 AM for Majora's Mask 3DS, and then bopping to TRU at 8am.

Gonna be nuts. If i get that Majora's Mask 3DS though, its gonna be ok.
 
Got Sheik from Fry's. They also had toon link and fox to round out the somewhat rare ones. Standard from wave 1 and 2 also. Bowser rounded it out. No Dedede though so it looks like I'm still hunting for it.
 
Yippy my Ike Bowser and Sheik showed up toady after not be able to track them for 3 days or so. Now Just waiting on Sonic, Mega-man and Shulk to ship (japan via eBay).

Got Mario Party Guys ordered 2 places, amazon and best buys. I prefer BB because with GCU they only $10 each but haven't canned the other order yet. Also have all of wave 4 ordered off amazon.uk. Looks like I can finally take a break for a bit.
