NA gets 63% of all Amiibo shipments:

Pretty sure Japan is Blue, Europe Green, and Australia is Purple.

Yeah, I was surprised. The supply issues for amiibo in the US and Canada have been pretty severe at times, so there's been a lot of demand for Nintendo to increase their supply to this region. But according to that graph it turns out that they've already been doing that, and yet there are still supply issues here.

So rather than the problem being that Nintendo is allegedly oversupplying other regions at the expense of the US and Canada, the reality is that demand for amiibo in the US and Canada is so high relative to the other regions that even trying their best so far they simply haven't been able to keep up with demand. So the solution isn't really to siphon off even more supply from other regions, because there's not much left to give, but rather to just increase supply overall at the manufacturing level.

Hopefully we can assume that after their apparent success so far with amiibo, Nintendo will do just that.

Yep, pretty much. But increasing manufacturing is a tricky issue since that can be very costly, and it's likely being handled by a third party, which means they'd have to negotiate and work with them to increase the number of lots which would take a lot of time and effort, even before they actually get to the issue of actually making the new lots or converting other lots into amiibo producing ones

So cards are really going to be a thing. I have zero interest in amiibo cards but if it takes demand off of the figures then bring it. On the other hand, if it's Nintendo's excuse to reduce figure manufacturing then I'm going to hate it.

unless the cards are like 99 cents I would absolutely refuse to buy them no matter what they unlocked. Given it's nintendo I am expecting the cards to retail at something like $9.99.

Then may God have mercy on us for our sins.
Silver Villager & Gold Little Mac!
You just want to watch the world burn don't ya?

Sorry! SORRY! I'm afraid that they might go with Smash line-up for less-known characters like Ness, Duck Hunt, R.O.B, etc. Basically, I was suggesting a worst possibility situation that could happens.

If it's a new character, and not a double of something we already have access to, all hell is going to break loose.

Please don't be Ness, Duck Hunt Dog, or Lucina!

Yeah, it would. I hope that it wouldn't happens but knowing Nintendo, it could.

I really doubt single cards will be sold for $9.99. In fact, I fully expect amiibo cards to be sold in packs, rather than single cards anyways

Hopefully I'll complete the smash set, and then I'll get out of the amiibo train.

i'd like to say that. But then they'll release a boo, or koopa, or goomba or some other amiibo I just have to have. I do know though that I won't be trying to collect them all again. I only want the rare ones and my favs.

I hope I get a metaknight on Friday. Going 2 hours early just in case

Go and talk to the people at your Best Buy first. Find out of they will even have any extras, and where you should go when they open to get them. It would be way better then if you wait that long and they don't have any extra or if you don't know where to go when they open.

Went out today to Gamestop and Target to find any leftover ones but they mostly just had Diddy Kongs and Marios at both stores. Will try again Friday at walmart to get Ike and Mega Man.

I agree. I imagine quickly increasing manufacturing volume also runs the risk of creating an even higher rate of product defects than we've seen so far, which could hurt customers' perception of amiibo in the long run.

So, for all these reasons it's not so easy to just increase manufacturing volume, but it seems like at this point there's not much else they could do to try to relieve some of the pressure on their supply at the moment.

I had an excellent experience at TRU last Friday. Let's hope this Friday mirrors that experience
I wish I could say the same. I waited outside in single digit temps -- below zero wind chill -- for almost an hour, was third in line, left empty handed; even with a 1-per limit. TRUs stock was pathetic.

Yep, I'm sure Nintendo is working on it, but it's not this simple issue that so many people seem to think it is

Well I think that's what I'm going to do...I'll prolly get the ones that I like "IF" I can find them (for example I preordered only Toad of the mario party line) and if not, no problem.

The thing with the smash line, is that I want the full collection, and so far I have all 3 waves ( shulk, meta, and rosa from japan, because those stores didnt receive my Foreign credit card), and well, this shortage/preorder/Scalper situation is getting very very boring for me so yeah...

The amiibo pie chart vs distribution realities does kind of make sense.

Skylanders/Disney Infinity aren't nearly as popular in other continents as they are in North America.

Well, today's been polarizing. My Mega Man amiibo and New 3ds XL (black) shipped (yay), I had an awesome first date (double yay), and I had a small accident that screwed up my bumper a lot (boo). Stupid terrible weather...

Is it worth it to trade in my 3DS XL for a n3DS XL with GameStop's $100 trade-in credit? I do want Xenoblade 3D eventually but otherwise nothing looks too exciting this year.

Oh, and hopefully my Shulk preorder comes in by the time game comes out.

So, I had planned to wait out on Friday for MK, but I got roped into chaperoning a field trip to a local power plant. It is unfortunate, but I'm also looking forward to the trip. I have a friend that might be able to hook me up with the figure, but I'm not that hopeful.

I've been having so much fun playing 8 player Smash while using various Amiibo combinations. My lvl 50's are all such beasts. Funny how my Amiibo are training me to play better, rather than the other way around.

Got my Sonic from Best Buy today - yay!

That should be fun

Hey, good to hear the date went well from when you mentioned it before. Sucks about the bumper. Maybe there'll be a second date, eh?

Pretty sure that deal ended Sunday. Sorry to break it to ya. It was worth it to me, 'cause my fiancé never used her XL, so Inused hers and mine to get my New 3DS XL for the wonderful price of free (not to rub it in.)

So what is the best way to procure a Mega Man amiibo?

I hate Capcom.

But I love Mega Man!
Sign up foe in stock alerts foe Mega Man and hop he stays up for at least 10 minutes to get notified. Watch GAF like a hawk.

I walked into TRU today and asked if they had any new shipments in the back. They did, all Wave 3 B

That's alright, I wasn't in a rush to spend more money anyway lol

How are you liking it so far?

Oh...I didn't get any amiibos, and I had to yell at a guy for trying to cut everyone in line. It was pretty shitty.
Sorry to hear that man. I've heard horror stories about other city releases.

Oh definitely! I always do. I'll call again on Thursday to ask about how many will be available.
I called them yesterday and the guy told me they would be getting some and all of which would be first come first serve.

Single digits?? Where do you live? That sounds terrible

So I decided Nintendo didn't want my money so I bought the MayFlash Gamecube adapter for the WIiU.

Costed me $33 after shipping, but whatever.

Now I can stop listening to my friend complain about using their 3DS and Pro Controller
