Cause i plan on doing :lol Im in love with snowboarding/games, and seeing the 720p footage with the gigantic mountains i really had an urge playing it.

Is it pretty fun in multiplayer? And the mountains...are they big and free-roaming? I dont expect something ground-breaking or better then Amped...but i just want a freestyle-exploring boarder which is fun in multiplayer. Can Amped 3 give me this?

I'd be buying this if they had included Live play like in Amped 2. That was a blast just going into a game and doing whatever, and hanging out.

rented it... it definitely plays like an amped game, though it's way too busy with all the cutscenes, menu screens, and on-screen shit going on. still fun, but feels unpolished to me w/ some minor framerate issues.

Did you play the multiplayer aspect of the game? And are the mountains big and free-roaming?(as much as downhill boarding can get)

There's no XBL multiplayer. But the mountains *are* free-roaming. It's more like a snowboarding RPG where the mountain is your world-map and getting to the next part of the storyline requires "leveling up."

It's very different from the first two Amped games. It really needs to be seen as an RPG rather than a sports game.

Agreed. I really enjoy it, but I've never played the other ones. It's really deep, acres of unlockables, a fair Achievement System and, as a little added bonus, it includes the best GamerTiles you can find, NOT the Amped ones you can buy on Marketplace, which are hell of lame.

The ability to see the entire mountain at times is super-impressive and the clothes modeling is gorgeous, especially all the puffy coats with realistically-lit seams and what-not (I'm a total geek for that kind of stuff).

And I love the way the graphic design style is fully integrated into the game, with 2d stuff smoothly sliding in and out of the frame. Really nice looking.

Yeah, it's a really well put together offline SnowPG. And the trick system is as smooth as butter, especially because your tweaks are done not by mashing buttons, but by steadying your left stick halfway to its furthest point. That might not make sense to read, but when you play and you nail the tweak (cool-ass stars start flying off your score) you truly hit the zen of Amped 3.

I unapologetically love the eff out of this game. I wouldn't be surprised if, in a few years, it gets its own little Edge Replay feature. I think it's been very adversely affected by its status as a launch title and because of its differences to the rest of the series. Standing on its own, I think it's the balls.

That's the thing though. Amped 3 has nothing to do with Amped 1 or 2 except for the development team and the snowboarding theme.

Think of it like comparing Warcraft vs. World of Warcraft. If you come to Amped 3 expected a sequel to Amped 2, you'll be disappointed.

On the other hand, if you come to Amped 3 thinking that it's Dark Summit done well, and think of it like a snowboarding RPG where instead of turn based battles, you have Amped-style gameplay (with difficulty toned down) you'll love it.

I've been waiting for this thread.

I've had the game in my hand numerous times, but for some reason I keep putting it down. I absolutely loved the first 2 in the series...so I think it's the different direction this game has taken that is keeping me at bay. I'm fairly easy to please and I can live without having the online play as long as their are plenty of achievement points to be earned in this game.

Couple quick questions for those who have played it.

1. The addition of sledding and tubing doesn't sit well with me. Is that stuff shoved in your face or is it optional?

2. I loved how the first 2 Amped games played. Does 3 play similar or have the reworked that part of the game as well?

3. I DL the video from the marketplace earlier today and the voices annoyed the holy hell out of me. Is there an overload of obnoxious boarder/surfer speak?

Any info is appreciated.

It is a worthy purchase. I enjoy it. My playtime is limited with everything else I bought, but I've enjoyed it with the time spent with it.

Oh, you are going to hate this game.

1. It's not optional, well, as far as Snowmobiling goes, it isn't. There are also a lot of sled-based challenges. And also it has it's own Achievement.

2. No clue actually.

3. Overload is a bit of an understatement, but that's the point of the "humor" of the "game".

There are, like pretty much every other 360 Premium game, 1000 Achievement Points to be had. But I don't think you'll like this game, if you approach it with the rest of the Amped series in mind. Id've called it Amped: On Tour if I was them.

Hmmm.. thanks. Perhaps I should get off my ass and give the game a rental first.

So far I've seen it only on the gamercard of HiroProtagonist. But then again, it is an x-treme sport after all.

But even though it's mandatory, it's not a required part of the game. It's still 85% snowboarding and 15% the other stuff.

2. The general feel is the same but it's been made much easier in order to make it more accessible. It's not like SSX or anything like that, but there's no distinction between goofy or regular. On the other hand, it's A LOT easier to actually get on a rail.

3. There are characters that do a lot of snowboarding talk for sure. It's tongue-in-cheek though -- the game is aware that the boarder talk is silly. I think the trailer is far more annoying than the actual game.

But you won't beat story mode without riding a snowmobile.

(I feel like Ron Burgundy signing off against Veronica Corningstone. "Butstayclassy..SanDiego.")

Bought this the other night, and I'm liking it quite a bit. I definitely miss Live play, and I'm not a big fan of performing grabs with the buttons instead of the right stick. I think that its a little too forgiving as far as landing things goes, but other than those things, no big complaints.

It certainly caters to my really random sense of humor with the short cinema sketches though. I nearly cried at
Cinco de Mayo
