Amped World info (with video)

this all comes from a survey i just filled out from a market research firm, didn't see any of it posted here yet. i'm just going to copy and paste the questions and such, so ignore the lousy formatting.

first off, here's the video link, i'm not sure if it will work externally:

watch the whole thing, it gets more interesting as it goes on. here's the info:

Amped 3 takes the realistic snowboarding and real-life resorts found in Amped I & II and enters a whole new universe. Every aspect of the game, including the incredibly cool new story mode, is a mind-blowing trip into the snowboarding subconscious. It’s packed with weirdness, humor and truly unusual gameplay never before seen in a trick-based video game.

11. Simple Controls - Simplified and easy to learn controls: Anyone on the first run can pull off big tricks, and play with all the mountain toys with a sense of satisfaction and enjoyment.
12. Add objects and structures – Players have the power to add and build anything from basic ramps to intricate structures that they can use to reach new areas of the game or simply set new hang-time records.
13. Massive Mountains - 7 real resorts, three times larger than levels in Amped 1 & 2. These levels are truly living mountains, immersive with interesting character interaction (other characters will throw snowballs at you, jump out of your way, you will see the ski patrol, etc.); and objects will react like in real life - run into a fence and it will fall down, etc.). You can traverse and explore these massive levels to discover nearly limitless gameplay.
14. Snowmobile - Jump on a snowmobile for an entirely new mountain experience. Downhill or uphill it doesn’t matter – you can explore, trick and race anywhere.
15. Snowbox – The resorts are winter wonderland playgrounds now with lots of other stuff to do besides showboard, including snowmobiling, sledding, snowball fights, etc. Spend hours exploring and discovering new and secret places to test your skills.
16. Backcountry – You are no longer limited to resort runs or terrain parks. Expansive and serene backcountry areas are now waiting to be explored. You’ll always get first tracks, while carving up the fresh powder and tricking off natural features.
17. Coop Sledding – Survival crash mode with two sleds tethered together, and you can each steer. Hang on for your life and try and see how far you can make it down the hill before launching yourself into spectacular crashes that are scored based upon the expected medical bill.
18. Surface Tricks – Who needs a jump or a rail to pull of a killer trick? If it’s covered with snow you can now surface trick it (even trick off the snowy ground!). Chain together sick combos.
19. Online Leaderboards – Via Xenon Live Aware™, every single individual Snowbox challenge has its own global leaderboard, letting you compare your best scores against the rest of the world.
20. 300+ New Indie Music Tracks – Again Amped offers up more fresh tracks than any another game ever made.

You and your crew are down to your last few days before the NorthStar resort closes for the season. Along with J-Dawg – your wannabe pro buddy, Hunter – the resident hottie, Sebastian – the 300-pound Zen Master, and Weiner Boy – fan boy extraordinaire, you’ve been saving up cash for a trip to Chile, where you all plan to keep riding until the money runs out. But when someone steals the cash and tries to pin it on you, the rest of the crew mysteriously disappears and you’re on your own. Then things get REALLY REALLY weird. It’s up to you to find out what the heck’s goin’ on as you ride some of the greatest resorts around the world and must destroy what you find there, the twisted snowboarding/golf/RPG/shooter…the World’s Most Evil Genre-Mixing game!

that's mostly it. sounds and looks pretty sweet if you ask me, outside of the desperately hip attitude.

Are they trying to ruin it?

Add jumps and ramps to levels to reach new areas? Erm...won't that make the game horribly unbalanced? Snowmobiles? Fuck that.

Great, another game I love gets mauled by "improvements". Cheers, guys.

Are there people out there who actually find this "old people trying to make hip, cool content and failing miserably" actually amusing? This movie insults my intelligence, and I'm god damn retarded in the first place.

11. Simple Controls - Simplified and easy to learn controls: Anyone on the first run can pull off big tricks, and play with all the mountain toys with a sense of satisfaction and enjoyment.

Satisfaction and enjoyment is good but I hope it rewards extended playtime with more complex tricks.

12. Add objects and structures – Players have the power to add and build anything from basic ramps to intricate structures that they can use to reach new areas of the game or simply set new hang-time records.

Sounds good, can you trade your setups online?

This is the best new addition, being able to go anywhere on the mountain

14. Snowmobile - Jump on a snowmobile for an entirely new mountain experience. Downhill or uphill it doesn’t matter – you can explore, trick and race anywhere.

Uhh okay...if it dosent feel tacked on

15. Snowbox – The resorts are winter wonderland playgrounds now with lots of other stuff to do besides showboard, including snowmobiling, sledding, snowball fights, etc. Spend hours exploring and discovering new and secret places to test your skills.

Again, I like this if it dosen't feel like they just threw it in there so they can say the got a bunch of stuff to do

16. Backcountry – You are no longer limited to resort runs or terrain parks. Expansive and serene backcountry areas are now waiting to be explored. You’ll always get first tracks, while carving up the fresh powder and tricking off natural features.

Good, no more "Out of Bounds" crap

17. Coop Sledding – Survival crash mode with two sleds tethered together, and you can each steer. Hang on for your life and try and see how far you can make it down the hill before launching yourself into spectacular crashes that are scored based upon the expected medical bill.

This sounds fun, I hope it is physics based and not just canned animations

18. Surface Tricks – Who needs a jump or a rail to pull of a killer trick? If it’s covered with snow you can now surface trick it (even trick off the snowy ground!). Chain together sick combos.

I think Amped 2 had this

19. Online Leaderboards – Via Xenon Live Aware™, every single individual Snowbox challenge has its own global leaderboard, letting you compare your best scores against the rest of the world.

Bragging rights don't really interest me, should have online play

20. 300+ New Indie Music Tracks – Again Amped offers up more fresh tracks than any another game ever made.

Glad to see 2K games is staying true to this aspect of the franchise

I like the first Amped and I'm still trying to finish it, but I haven't played the second. This thread however just made this game a must buy for me. Seems like it has a good storyline, kinda seems like Fuzion Frenzy which I love. Reminds me of the movie Airborne :lol May be my first 360 game.

I'm going to reserve judgement for now, if this is the same team that made Amped 1 & 2 I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. The live mountain concept seems fun if it will handle the same way as in the video.

But for story mode...Why wouldn't you riff off of the plot of Better Off Dead the best skiing movie ever made?

Are you crazy? This is GAF. The time to make up your mind is AGES AGO.

Then years later, post a late to the party apologia.

The story sounds so terrible that I'm almost inclined to think it's supposed to be a parody of plots in XXXXTTTREEMEMEMEMEME sports games (games like THUG). Almost.

As long as the snowmobile exists to serve as an "explore the mountain" device and isn't required to progress (like those fucking snow skates in 2), I'll be fine. I would have liked a way to easily explore some of the more expansive slopes in Amped 2.

Well that's certainly not realtime.

Are there people out there who actually find this "old people trying to make hip, cool content and failing miserably" actually amusing?

No kidding, it's ridiculous.
