edit: just watched the new trailer, it actually seems improved...maybe it won't be a crapfest like Beatdown

If "decent" means "complete lack of feet not going through stomachs" then this is a correctly labeled shot.

...

that's not a front kick, it's a cross to center one.

you'd realize that if you watched the trailer...

like....oh my goood =/.

Looks a whole lot better than the E3 demo, I just hope the controls change, too...The last thing they need to do before the game's release, is speed up those kicks to the point that they're responsive. I just wish the game felt a bit more "arcade" like, instead of another brawler, the E3 demo feels like a poor man's Def Jam NYC.

Looks like crap to me. Final Fight One on GBA rocked ass... wish they would've made an all-new sequel with that engine. Who wants to play trash like this?

Final Fight - best home versions:

Capcom Classics Collection (Xbox) it IS the arcade game. no differences that I could notice. CPS-exact

Sharp X68000 - nearly CPS arcade-identical. only less thugs on-screen at once and no flickering lights in the basement of lv 1. The sprites, animation and backgrounds looks just like the CPS arcade and SLAUGHTERS Final Fight CD on SegaCD and Final Fight One on GBA.

Final Fight CD -MegaCD / SegaCD - a complete translation of the arcade with no missing content. but far from CPS-identical. expanded intro that can be found nowhere else and totally remixed music - has all of the animation of the arcade - but somewhat cut back background detail (more detail than Nintendo versions though.) - sadly, highly deficient in colors, worse than any of the Nintendo versions as far as color.

Final Fight One - GBA - this is a beefed up SuperFamicom/SNES version with the missing content put back in. sadly, the missing animation and detail from the SuperFami versions are still missing here. it's not based on the arcade game but more based on the SNES versions with Guy, 2-player and Industrial level.

This continues to look like shit.

Cramming in a horrid looking Andore isn't going to make me buy this, Capcom.

I find it amusing that people don't think this is doing the original justice when the original's gameplay wasn't even as deep as double dragon for the NES!

Why are you guys putting old Final Fight on some impossible to reach pedestal simply because this new one doesn't look like the arcade original? I thought the original was awesome when I was 9 years old but if you play it now it's only awesome because it's fun and cheesy. If I was 9 years old pumping quarters into this new final fight at a 7-11 I'd probably think it was great.

QFT.

I haven't played FF: Streetwise, but it does seem like some ass-wipes here are putting [as you say] the old-school Final Fight's on some unreachable pedastal.

There was no depth to the old FF's, not in this day n' age, yet apparently that's what people here want. But that's not going to fly, nobody is going to spend 50 on that, it's going to get bomb reviews from reviewers who like to review games on a "deep level" thinking their the artistic law or some shit, as opposed to the basic idea of fun/not fun, and if Capcom adds details to it, make it 3D, giving it some mainstream appeal (GTA references) it will get the "it's not FF spiel" from reviews, get bad scores, the GAF hate bandwagon will increase...

Damned if you do damned if you don't.

The way I see it this game has what it takes to be on top on the brawler seen. Although that new game that came out in Japan, heard that was pretty solid, a "good Urban Reign" so to speak.

I've played a lot of Final Fight recently, it holds up quite well today.

I'm actually looking forward to this. Capcom's American team did a pretty good job on Maximo, and I've been wanting a Final Fight sequel for about a decade now. Just remember to use more colors then brown and gray please.

And as zero-depth gameplay beat-em-ups go, Samurai Western was awesome and had fewer moves available to the player then the original Double Dragon. So if done right the formula can still work today.

Yeah more color. If only Andore was still wearing a bright red torn leopard skin tank top and matching bright red pants! Then GAF would be happy.

If you take a look at some previews of this game etc., it doesn't seem this game is any deeper. Sure, you can strafe around enemies, target lock and perform some 'last-minute blocks' to counter enemies, but for the most part, it's a beat-em-up.

I'm just looking at this game and I see a FF 2D done in 3D.

It hasn't become a first person shooter, it doesn't take place in fuckin outer-space, it hasn't changed the overall look of the game (still the same ghetto shit infested city) right?

And about Capcom Production Studio 8 (the USA dev team of Capcom) what's funny is that their probably more consistant than any other Capcom Japan studio if Maximo 1 and 2 are is indication of that.

Hey, dats Hagger on the right about to powerbomb the punk. Possible co-op play, or more likely an AI assist? Either way, still cool.

WTF is the deal with people insulting others simply because they don't like the new direction of this new so-called "Final Fight" game? Grow up. The game lacks style and, dare I say it, COLOR and the game's new direction to try and capture the "GTA crowd" doesn't make for an appealing FF game for me and obviously others. I don't think anyone's trying to put the original FFs on some unreachable pedestal. It's just that this looks like some bastardization of the FF license which isn't setting well with some fans. No need to turn to name calling simply because your opinions may differ.

Maybe some some of these ass-wipes *like* fun and cheesy and don't want another ultra-generic brawler with washed out visuals and bad character models. Add a sorry hip-hop/nu metal soundtrack, remove the original characters for a forgettable protagonist, and people might start to think "Hey I really liked Final Fight! What does that have to do with this flavor-of-the-month garbage? Look! Here's comes a bandwagon!".

But I don't want to make assumptions about people.

WoooooooooooW, I'm impressed at how much you know of the game.

In fact, if you've been moderately following the title, you'd come to realize a lot of these "Snoop Dogg hip-hop gangster sandbox editions" we see in a lot of games isn't actually in Streetwise.

Just cus' they say "fuck" in the game, doesn't make a GTA wannabe, games have grown up, and the atmosphere of the old FF games certainly seemed fitting to have a society that would say "curse" words a few times here and there.

I haven't seen any cars that you can hijack. It's the same city. Same type of streets. Same cheese-ballish looking bad guys with mo-hawks and buff dudes in business suits.

And yes, there is Co-op, which plays more at a 2D/3D viewpoint (same viewpoint as the 2D ones) so nostalgic ones can at least go ape shit over that.

Are you guys actually listening to yourselves. Here is what I see why people are saying [before they've even played a final version btw] on why the game sucks.

1) It stars Kyle, not his older brother Cody.
2) The colors are 'washed' out...okaaay, I guess the game takes place at night...but uh, the Maximo games have looked good, and I don't think a Studio loses talent in a year. Furthermore, the game runs at 60 fps, and it may/may not have load times.

3) They say "fuck" in the game.

4) Because of part 3, it's assumed that the game is a GTA-rip off.

.......

.................yeah.

I'm not an advocate for the game, really--aside DMC3SE, MGS3:S, and Okami I'm pretty much done with gaming till' next-gen starts to get interesting, but some the reasons to hate on a title is just (imo, baffling).

What the fuck is your god damn problem? Are you one of the designers that came up with this thing or something? I happened to have played the game at E3 and know plenty about the game. By "GTA Crowd", I'm simply saying people that like gritty urban street thug mature rated rap games. I never once stated this is in line with the GTA genre. Just that it looks like it's trying to appeal to those that like that flavor of presentation. So again I ask: WHAT IS YOUR FUCKING PROBLEM?

A) Stop shouting.

B) "Just that it looks like it's trying to appeal to those that like that [GTA RAP/GANGSTA] flavor.

And that's where my problem comes.

Saying the game 'is trying' to appeal to the "GTA crowd" is saying (even if indirectly) you think it's a GTA 'wannabe' game.

Because if it wasn't, it wouldn't be appealing to that crowd.

My problem is in what way do you think this game appeals to them? The way I see it, if you take the themes, characters etc. of the original FF games, make it 3D, you'd accurately get what you see now.

Games change, not all sequals are 100% clones of another.

But from what I've seen it certainly seemed in-tune with the basic elements the original FF games offered. So they say 'fuck' so they have some rap playing in the background in certain instances, but in a way that's actually representative of the game's setting. You know, ghetto, black neighborhoods, high crame rate, rap influence etc. etc.

This is probably the most explanatory screenshot of why I'm not a fan of FF Streetwise. Glad you'll enjoy it, though.

I have two of those.
FF CD and FF1. I swear to god, FF1 is an awesome GBA game. I wish they'd release the rest.

Well there you go.

That's fine. But GAF seems to have an issue of not doing that and saying: (and in general a lot of preview threads)

" :lol " that's not [so and so], it looks so baaad"

And moving on and you're sitting here wondering where/how the fuck is it not FF.

I guess, inclusions of a point system, respect system (small, cursory changes imo) is enough to break the entire gameplay similarity it more than likely shares with the old FF games, in your viewpoint...hm.

A) Stop being an asshole.

B) You lack vision and are simply blind to what's obvious here. This in no way resembles an FF game with the exception of a couple slightly familiar characters (poorly done I might add). Just because you like this new "modern day ghetto flavor" of this game doesn't mean that others have to. An "M" rated Final Fight isn't appealing to me and I'm disappointed Capcom felt it necessary to push the game in this direction. Final Fight was never about being "real" so to somehow impose that now seems odd and, well, desperate, IMO. I have played this game and I sure as hell have more of a right to judge what I've seen and played than you, someone that's only seen some low quality movies and faded screenshots.

I think people hate the game just because of the initial press release.

YOU'RE KYLE TRAVERS. You have to break your brother, Cody Travers (tm) out of prison and earn RESPECT!!! while you're at it!!

It practially came out of a form generator, keywords "urban" and "nostalgia."

And also, the original Final Fight really isn't that awesome. It's pretty good for a beat-em-up since it's possible to beat the arcade game in one credit, but there's really not more to the game than Mega Crush, throw a lot, and pick up weapons. The franchise was already ruined with FF Revenge, anyways.

Looks very shitty graphically, very bland. But it looks fun to play, I'll pick this up for sure.

I always dreamed in a Final Fight game with sprites with SF3 quality...They already have the Andore one :P
That's a nightmare.

As a big Final Fight fan, I'd kill for a nice simple old school beat'em up.

I could probably look past the lack of the main characters from the original game, the muddy generic look, the silly maturing of the series, the complete lack of the awesome 80s cheese and even the horrible looking Andore model, but the gameplay itself looks really poor in that new trailer.

The attacks are slow, the hard hits (mostly the kicks) seem to pause for a second, the lack of the jump... I see nothing that made Final Fight fun in the trailer.

Hopefully there will be a demo in OPM so I can give it a shot myself, I seriously doubt this will review well.

Come on Capcom, port the SNES sequels to GBA. Bring on Final Fight Two and Final Fight Three, we're ready.
