Truthfully it looks exactly like the kind of phones HTC should have been putting out until now.

What phone do you have now Pimpwerx?

I was thinking of getting the Droid this weekend but the thought that a bigger screen Android phone might be right over the horizon is just too much. "I can't do it Capn" [/Scotty]
I had a myTouch and now I have a Hero. The Hero is faster, and Sense UI is great. I wish the Droid or Dragon were coming to Sprint, but I can wait. Once HTC ports 2.0 to the Hero, I doubt I'd want for much more than a big 4" screen and 8MP camera. PEACE.

Engadget had a rumor story about HTC putting out the Hero 2 in 2010.

If true its my next phone! But it'll probably be Sprint so that may complicate things for me.

I'd think HTC would release it in the UK again and then the Sprint version would come a lot later seeing as how the first came out in October.

yes, but if it's on sprint then you could run multiple apps AND use apps while making a phone call!

it's the best of both worlds!

I picked up an Orange hero this week, I'm offloading my iPhone 3G to my mum.

I certainly had fun so far! I got an unlock code online, turns out that there's a bug in the firmware which prevents unlocking. I had to trek into town and get a PAYG sim, flash amon_ra then flash modaco 3.0

Finally unlocked, absolutely loving it. The user experience is fantastic.

Few annoyances are:

HTC mail app doesn't receive sub folder mail (exchange) until you enter the folder.

Gmail app doesn't have an unread mail icon.

For some reason I seem to be missing the space key or it isn't recognising me hitting it (typing too fast?)

Apart from those few I am absolutely loving android at the moment. My contract is up in February so hopefully HTC have something juicy up their sleeves.

Rumor Mill: T-Mobile To Get Passion?
“Let me just preface this post with a total rumor disclaimer, to be read only with serious grains of salt.

That being said, information has been passed along to me in a very James Bond type way from a trusty ninja who has yet to lead me astray. The information contains detail regarding the so called “Google phone.” According to this super ninja, magenta has landed the “Google Experience Phone,” aka codename “Passion” (which we believe to be the HTC Passion, but again thats just the codename, but it makes sense) project with an expected launch in the first two weeks of January.

Some lingering questions remain, such as what will the price be? Will there be any kind of a subsidy or is that just wishful thinking? Will Google only sell this product? Will this be offered with the recently launched standard Even More/Even More Plus rate plans? What about the rumors regarding VoiP service on the Google phone? Questions are abundant and we are just in the preliminary stages of gathering info from our sources, so we’ll be updating info as we can get it. For the moment, we hope there is truth to the notion that the Google phone successfully landed in the T-Mobile network, as it would be a huge win for T-Mobile.

Let us reiterate, this is total rumor at this point but we have it on good word, so if we’re right, terrific; if we aren’t, well bah humbug to who ever gets the HTC passion.”
There ARE two Passions listed on the list, so there just may be enough Passion for both T-Mobile and VZW
.

Rumor, rumors. This just shows me that I will have to wait until January to make any kind of decision regarding what phone or what carrier I will take/keep my contract with.

It would be awesome to get the Passion on Tmo considering that they started with the G1... and that the phone will be truly the next-gen Android experience.

i picked up the motorola cliq during the presale because i was desparate for a new phone. i was really waiting for the hero, but after they decided to go with sprint i had to pull the trigger on something-- i was coming off a first generation pearl.

at any rate, aside from the abysmal battery, i absolutely love the cliq. it's better than i thought it would be, and it takes fantastic pics despite not having a flash.

HTC's first half 2010 lineup has been leaked...

The Bravo looks amazing. I still think I'm gonna pull the trigger on an Eris today, though.

If it's not out in Euroland until April, it probably won't hit the US until late summer. Yeah, I wouldn't bother waiting either. The only ray of hope is that there may be phones that were originally scheduled for release in December that are not part of that lineup.

Yup the Bravo is pure sex with its 3.7in WVGA AMOLED screen and snapdragon processor. I am wondering which one of these of any is the Hero 2 which I read will debut at MWC '10.

I think it's the Legend. It looks just like the Hero. Even the names are related.

Your right it does look alot like the Hero. As much as I like my Eris/Hero I want a bigger screen. The Bravo's screen is exactly what I want in my next phone.

Wow, these leaked HTC phones look amazing. I love love love HTC.

Click here for leaked photos of HTC's 2010 roadmap.

Heh, if the source is actually correct, Bravo is Passion/Dragon and won't be out till April 2010.

Meh on the MSM72xx processors, but AMOLED is a nice upgrade.

Well I'm glad I know the roadmap a little better now.

I'm on T-mobile, no I'm not switching, cant incur more monthly charges at this point. On a family plan as well. Anwyays, my old Samsung Blast bit the dust and I'm really tempted to get an Android phone. Obviously my options are limited on TMo, so its down to the MyTouch or Cliq.

Any thoughts or should I suck it up and get a cheap dumb phone for now?

Whoah.

Looks like HTC is gonna start pushing QVGA hard. Which is good as I believe when Android eventually arrives on dumbphones it will naturally be QVGA, and this gives devs more incentive to support the resolution fully.

However with almost all of their leaked phones being on T-Mobile, and not having both WVGA and a hardware keyboard, I still think the Droid will remain in the limelight until the second half of 2010. I think all eyes will be on Motorola and their next "big" Android phone. Even the Bravo faces a tough challenger in the Sholes Tablet, and even on T-Mobile it could have competition with the X10. Glad to see HTC stepping its game up, but none of the phones truly stand out, in my opinion, and I think they're focusing instead on flooding the market with Android phones of all targets (a very very very good thing, mind you) instead of creating one or two "be all end all" models like they did with the Touch Pro and Touch Pro 2 for Windows Mobile. The best Android phone they have coming, the Bravo, can definitely go toe-to-toe with the X10 and Droid/Sholes Tablet, but that's the thing, it's only on par with those phones. If this is all HTC has for 2010, they could be surpassed in the Android specs arms race.

All my opinion. All the phones in the link are coming in just the first half according to the leak, so assuming none of them get delayed HTC could conceivably release the next level of Android hardware later in the year. One interesting thing to note is that (what I think is) their strategy seems to possibly be focused at getting a bunch of low-end models out before the next iPhone. Perhaps after the next iPhone releases, HTC will move ahead with some higher-end handsets to combat it in the second half.

Next year is going to be very, very interesting for Android.

The reason they all say T-Mobile is that the leaked documents came from a T-Mobile event. I wouldn't use it to judge the availability on other carriers. Also, I assumed that was T-Mobile UK.

Don't specs list CDMA and GSM? So I'm hoping for Verizon.

I really want to upgrade my G1, I am very tempted to wait for the Bravo.. But the lack of hardware keyboard makes me sad.. :(

I think I am still going to pick myself up a Droid when it gets released over here.. I am not certain yet though. :x

The Motorola Q made the leap before it's debut, the Hero was completely redone, specs before launch (and even after a launch) mean absolutely nothing. A GSM HTC phone can, has and will probably continue to make the leap to CDMA. Specs are always just "as of now"...just look at how Verizon [used to] gimp phones that came to their network.

yeah, bravo is going to be my next phone. I love my Hero but by April I'll be ready for a new one. Hopefully we get it a little earlier in AU or the UK and I'll import again

It's only the first half of 2010 lineup. They haven't had an event for insiders showing off their second half phones.

Got my Eris today... easily the sleekest phone I've ever used. Absolutely love the feel and finish.

Pretty surprised how excited people are for Bravo. I like the Hero and a bigger screen and faster performance isn't enough for me personally to make a switch. I'm hoping Salsa gets a bit more interesting, I'd love that kind of Blackberry/Pixi form factor, just don't want to have to sacrifice too much.

I've had my Cliq now for a week and I couldn't be happier. Love the Motoblur intergration and how my Twitter and Facebook get fed to me on my Homescreen and how I can set my status for both. Love how easy it is to link all these services to my contacts.

Yeah, I've played with Blur and really liked what I saw. It's crazy to me how Motorola and HTC can get the Facebook integration so right when Palm, who kinda started it, made such a complete disaster out of it. Yeah, having birthdays, pictures and other data fed from Facebook is a great idea, but not if you force me to have all my FB friends in my phonebook, Palm.

The specs list WCDMA which is not the same. WCDMA is (confusingly) actually part of the standards adopted by the GSM providers, not the CDMA providers. All of the specs lists have just the standard European frequency bands.

*thumbs up* How is the browser performance?

I love my hero too but I want a faster processor and a camera with flash. It will never be a point and shoot replacement but for indoor shots and especially low light, which is when I take 90% of my photos, usually for contact photos, having a flash is a must. So the combo of flash, amoled and faster processor is basically taking everything I love about my hero (the OS) and making it better. My one concern is the optical trackball, anyone had any history with them and can say how responsive/usable they are?

Need help with my Hero.

I'm trying to flash Amron ra's recovery image to the phone, I already have Cryogen 1.4. When I'm in recovery mode and try and connect my usb cable, I can't enter the adb shell to flash the new image. What the hell is the problem. I want to partition my sd card, for apps2sd, wipe then flash modaco 3.0.

Maybe USB debugging somehow got turned off? Check that just for kicks.

So let me get this straight. HTC will never make an Android phone with a Qwerty keyboard?!?!

WTF? Stupid ass mistake.
Bitter... bitter tears.

I'd say the iPhone has made the compelling case for touch screen only phones in the next 4-5 years with qwerty's dying off slowly but surely.

I definitely don't think keyboards on phones are needed, especially with things like the Storm 2's perfected Suretype or the haptic feedback option. The thickness that keyboards bring (sliders) and the annoyance moving parts bring, usually aren't worth it imo...but I do like the Blackberry form factor, keyboards can still be nice. No one is using a touchscreen keyboard on the computer for a reason, I don't see them completely dying ever.

Hence why I said phones... not computers. :)

Well you did say that the iPhone makes a case for qwertys on phones dying off slowly but surely, I'm just saying I doubt that will ever happen because it may not be completely necessary to get the job done but it's still a want and I'd argue a great keyboard is more fun to use than a screen. I don't think they'll ever die off on phones, but I wouldn't resist the takeover if it happened.

Only fanboys revel in decimating the options they're not interested in. ;)

So there's a new specs list that hint the X10 might be going to T-Mobile as well as AT&T. It's still on my radar after that lackluster list of HTC's early 2010 phones.

We just had some very interesting news come across our desk regarding the Xperia X10 from Sony Ericsson. The much lusted-after handset with the top-dollar price tag is due sometime in the next 2 months. While most sites (including us) had the phone pegged as headed for AT&T, the document we have says that’s only half true.

According to a white paper from Sony Ericsson, there will be two variants of the Xperia X10. One for Ma Bell, and another for Big Pink. Take a look at the image below and you what we’re talking about.

Variant 1: UMTS HSPA 900, 1700, 2100 | GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900
Variant 2: UMTS HSPA 800, 850, 1900, 2100 | GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900

I still want this phone and I'm holding my breath. I would at least hope that they release a version that's compatible with T-mobile US 3G network in the states.

The only one with WVGA is Bravo, I am actually disappointed. Legend with a WVGA display could have been much better.

AMOLED and 720P is what you would expect from a high-end phone in 2010. However, they are still insisting on using 5mp cameras :\

The Bravo is better than X10 overall.
