Out of everything that’s out there, I cannot fathom spending my time playing this.

This looks like a game you would buy off Alibaba.

More difficult than the usual NES game from back then? Like, harder than TMNT?
I'd say it's harder than TMNT. It's full of insta-death blocks and stuff like that. Admittedly, I played it many years ago, so I don't remember the details.

It’s not hard like TMNT or Battletoads.
You sure about that? I've never played BT personally, but as a kid I beat TMNT more times than I can count. It's really not that hard if you're not trying to speedrun it and you can manage your health. There's nothing in TMNT like those races and those blink-and-you-miss-it sequences in BT.
Again, it's been years since I touched AVGN Game 1, but it was quite frustrating. Going by memory, I'd say it may be harder than TMNT.

TMNT has that one pixel perfect jump and that whole underwater section.

AVGN was anything but generic and mid... in 2006-2009. The series has been shit since he made that godawful movie.
To be fair, his videos always been fun to watch. In the end he's a regular and legit dude who likes what he does.

Sure it often gets cheezy and the schtick has been running for a long time but I like his content cuz it's above all, made to be comforting and nostalgic.

That jump isn’t pixel-perfect. You just have to use the low jump instead of the high cartwheel jump that the game requires most of the time. The penalty for failing is annoying, but it doesn’t kill you.
The underwater section is bullshit because of the wonky hitboxes, but as I’ve said, if you can manage your party’s health and have some sense of timing, it’s absolutely doable. The AVGN game had some platforming sections that were way worse than these two sections in TMNT.

This new AVGN NES games doesn’t seem to have sections like those, but the collisions do look a bit suspicious in places, which was one of the greatest challenges in old games. You think you’re gonna hit something or that something’s gonna miss you, but what your eyes see and calculate is denied by weird hitboxes. I’m curious.

And if I'm not mistaken, you can grind for health and heal the whole team after a level? You backtrack to an old level, heal then finish the level quickly?

The first game on Steam wasn't very good. Apparently, you guys all hate "LRG", so while an actual NES cart might be a cool collectible and I could run it on an actual CRT... seems like it might not be worth it. RIP.

Also... that fucking hairline.
