Brewer Anheuser-Busch says it will introduce a caffeinated, sweet-flavored beer for twentysomething club goers to compete with the flavored rums and vodkas gaining ground on the dance floor.

B(E) infuses beer with caffeine, guarana and ginseng, along with berry aromas for a sweeter, yet more tart taste at 6.6 percent alcohol by volume, said company brewmaster Nathaniel Davis.

This is CLEARLY a bad idea...but I'm sure people will try it. Hell, they try those shitty malt drinks, so the buying public will go for ANYTHING, right?

I did try "coffee beer" from a microbrewery once. It wasn't terrible...just wasn't my thing. It tasted a little bit like any other dark beer (Sapporo, Guiness) with a barely describable "something" that was off.

The concept of caffeine + alcohol isn't bad, though it makes your hangover the next day that much worse because of the dehydration. When I REALLY felt like partying back in my younger and more interesting days, I'd have a couple of shots of espresso before going out so that the alcohol wouldn't make me tired...and, of course, when I'm wired on coffee, I'm almost as obnoxious as when I'm drunk. Good times.
