You know, I bought this game over a year ago, and I've played it regulary since. I have my breaks where I go about a month or more without touching it, but this is one of the only games that really keeps me coming back, even if it's just for 20 minutes a day. AC has so much charm and even over a year in, I haven't seen everything. My roomates and my buddies on my hockey team rip on me anytime they see me play it. Honestly though, I don't care, I love this game. It's so simple, but for some reason keeps me entertained. Over the year, I actually grew to like the characters even though at first I found them kinda bland. Scoot and Kabuki are probally the top two I've come along so far.
Playing the game this morning has got me thinking about the Revolution sequel. Obviously the graphics will improve, but they should keep the style they set with the first game. Some things I'd like to see done though are more diverse weather effects. Such things as having crazy thunderstorms move in during the summer with crashing thunder, lightning, rain, and heavy wind blowing the trees and other items. Huge snow storms in the winter months that build up on the ground causing you to shovel or be snowed in. Perhaps in the winter months have ponds freeze over and the villagers skate around, play pond hockey (pond hockey mini game maybe?), go sledding down hills, have snowball fights (another mini game). It's just that kind of immersion that I think would really take the game to the next level.
A few other ideas I had were possibly letting the player buy boats and canoes, then allowing the user to go out into the ocean and fish for bigger catch, ride the waves, go swimming, or dive for buried treasures (like old classic games, etc). How about letting the player decorate their houses and trees on timeframes near halloween and xmas? How about a sports arena (indoor or outdoor) with basketball, soccer, and tennis mini games for fun? Possibly adding the need to eat with MGS3 like stamina meter, maybe a more in depth create a character at the start, or grass that grows in realtime and needs to be cut. Or maybe classic Nintendo game music to play on your stereo like the Zelda, Mario, Metroid themes (maybe it's in the first one, I just can't find it?). I could go on for hours, but I'm about to head out.
Just curious about peoples thoughts for the sequel and on the original? What do you think they should do to improve the Revolution follow up and how do you think the Rev controller should be used for the game? Hopefully I'm not the only one out there who's addicted to this game. I want to stop, I just can't. :/
