I haven't found any threads or webpages to a satisfactory level of a list of series lengths. List all long series that you know. All series listed must be greater than 26 episodes. I'm looking for long series to digest in the near future. I just finished Dragonball and now starting on Prince of Tennis.

If you're looking for GOOD long series, that can be anything over 26 eps, I recommend:

Full Metal Alchemist
Hikaru no Go
One Piece

and I guess Naruto, too.

Prince of Tennis? horrible choice.

Animenfo gives information on length... but they're not always accurate. I've only watched Ippo to completion but here are a couple.

Hajime no Ippo = 75 total + movies
Hikaru no Go = 75 total
Naruto = 100+ going
Detective Conan = 300+ on going (I think)
One Piece = 200+ on going
Hunter x Hunter = 62 + movies
12 Kingdoms = I watched up to 39 but there's a few more eps.
Kenshin = 95 + movies
Inuyasha = 100+
Saint Seiya = ???
Yu Yu Hakusho = ???
Initial D = multiple season.

If you like Dragonball, I think you'd like Yu Yu Hakusho, Inuyasha, Hunter x Hunter and Kenshin.

You should explain why POT is horrible.

I have watched OP and Naruto upto the current episodes. I selected POT cause it was the only other extremely long series that I could think of off hand and fansub downloadable.

I don't see fansubs of Detective Conan anywhere and Funimation releases the episodes out of order just like they did with DB/Z/GT.

That's a good site but it's still missing some.

The immediate series type I'm interested in are ones that are ~100 episodes or more and follows the manga fairly close. Episodic and incomplete(incomplete != ongoing) series are put on the backburner, which includes Rumiko Takahashi's series.

I wanted to finished YYH but also only got as far as the end of the Dark Tournament since that was all that was available at that time.

Animenfo doesn't allow me to display and sort the list by series length.

Most of the long series are incredibly shitty anyway after the 2nd seasons ends or whatever :lol

PATLABOR DAMMIT! PATLABOR.

Maison Ikkoku and Zenki are good too. Then again, I'm feeling like an old-timer now.

You should explain why POT is horrible.

You'd see it from the very first episode. PoT, at least early on, is about nothing more than some snot nosed kid beating the crap out of older kids at tennis match after match. I seriously don't understand the appeal in that. In fact, PoT is the ONLY sports anime where most people end up rooting against the main character because of how much of a snot nose brat he is.

However, the series' author apparently realized how stupid his manga was, and eventually the show starts doing episodes that aren't related to tennis, where all of the characters just go out and do really crazy and stupid things. I haven't seen these episodes nor have I read the manga that far in advance, i'm just taking the word of a fangirl for it. But is it worth it to drudge through all of the crap to get to that? I think you should just watch a good sports anime instead, like Yawara.

oh and here are my favorite long anime series:

Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex (52 episodes) - only if you like cyberpunk/sci-fi/science babble

Himechan no Ribbon (61 eps) - Possibly one of the best magical girl anime, certainly one of the few that are watchable for more than an episode or two.

Hana Yori Dango (51 eps) - Great, if you dig shoujo high school drama, consistent quality in each episode up til the very end

Also, I enjoyed Tenshi na Konamaiki and Mujin Wakusei Survive, but haven't seen the series to their completion (only about half for each of them). They are both around 4 seasons (or 48-52 eps).

DrForester

Kills Photobucket
Revolutionary Girl Utena - 39
Card Captor Sakura - 70
Rurouni Kenshin - 105
Kodoma No Omacha - 102
Sailor Moon - 200
Kaleidostar - 52

Dead

well not really...yet
Aside from others people have listed.

Kimagure Orange Road (about 50, not counting OVA)
Urusei Yatsura (about 200 eps I think)
Saint Seiya!! (100+)

I hope you're not alergic to any show pre 90s :p

and I second Shoutas Patlabor reccomendation.

Full Moon wo Sagashite - 52 episodes

Hikaru no Go -75 episodes + movies

Fullmetal Alchemist - 52 episodes

Rurouni Kenshin - I think only the first 2 major arcs are worth the time though (Wandering Samurai and Legends of Kyoto)

And of course, Naruto - 126 episodes 2 movies and still going....

Inu Yasha - 167 episodes, 4 movies
Detective Conan - 383 episodes and still going, 8 movies
Twelve Kingdoms - 45 episodes
Yu Yu hakusho - 112 episodes, 2 movies. I really like how the last fight ended, as it usually doesn't turn out that away in a series like this.
Doraemon - 1700 episodes and still going
Sazae-san - 1700+, its divided into about 3 shorts per episode
Crayon shin chan - 394
Legend of the Galactic Heroes - 110
Galaxy Express - 113
Lupin III 2nd tv series - 155, i might be wrong about which series it was
Shaman King - 64

Hope that helps.

I just thought of something that I really liked but I totally forgot.

SABER MARIONETTE J AND SABER MARIONETTE J TO X.

J is a fun little romp of a show that that lacks in overall substance as a standalone. However, J to X is absolutely fucking amazing for a series and works so well with J as a familiarization point. Both shows add up to about 52 or so episodes as I recall (can also watch the J Again OVA if you so wish but not necessary).

From the moment I finished reading the first post, I intended to reply with this suggestion. Then I got all the way to the end of the thread and found I didn't have to.

What he said. Great, great series. Some pretty good music too, if you're into J-pop at all.

PATLABOR DAMMIT! PATLABOR.

Shouta speaks the truth. I can happily third the Patlabor recommendation and second Maison Ikkoku.

Now, if you really want to get old school:

Space Pirate Captain Harlock - 42 episodes
Galaxy Express 999 - 113 episodes
Yamato - Three TV series of 26, 26 and 25 episodes each
Queen Millennia - 42 episodes

And that's not even counting stuff like Danguard Ace and Starzingers. Matsumoto Reiji, I love you so.

Then there's the wonderful world of sports anime:

Ashita no Joe - Two TV series of 79 and 47 episodes each - BOXING AND DEATH!
Touch - 101 episodes - BASEBALL! TWINS! TRUCKS!
Attack No. 1 - 100 episodes - SHOUJO VOLLEYBALL APOCOLYPSE!

Finally, Ryouko Ikeda represent!

Rose of Versailles - 40 episodes
Oniisama E - 39 episodes

There's also a ton of World Masterpiece Theatre shows that are good and tend to run for more than 26 episodes. 52 episodes of A Dog of Flanders here, another 52 episodes of 3000 Leagues in Search of Mother there. They're virtually all worth watching.
