The article states that PS3 dev tools have only just started shipping to developers this month, while 360 tools were shipped last summer.

I'm still rooting for the PS3/REV combo however. But who knows.
SolidSnakex said:Sure does.

Fafalada said:I wouldn't know much about N64, but having experienced the same early time frame with PS2 development, I would have to say PS3 SDK stuff is very far ahead of where PS2 was at the same point (I'm assuming spring launch as a reference - if launch is further back, the difference would be even bigger).
Admitedly - hardware wise - PS2 was much closer to final though.
Kleegamefan said:Do they mean last summer as in Summer 2004??
If so, that would give X360 jap developers an 18 month head start, which is all the more surprising considering the results we are seeing from Japanese PS3 developers currently![]()

BlueTsunami said:I found that to be the most definitive post. SquareEnix basically went out of their way to show how EASY it is to develop for the PS3 and how quickly they got that FFVII tech demo out. So where does this comment come from (The commment from which the thread was started)?
datruth29 said:Hence the confusion. Then again, they did say A developer from SE. Doesnt really speak for the whole company.

That was also a revisioning of an existing Square game at the time it was shown off and Nintendo certianly thought it was Square's preview of Final Fantasy for the n64.

BlueTsunami said:Its not about the franchise itself (or SquareEnix) but about how fast the DEMO was created. It contradicts what this developer said. I would like to see where this comment actually stems from and if it has been lost in translations.
Kleegamefan said:LOL at how the actual PlayStation developer in this thread is being ignored :lol

HomerSimpson-Man said:Note though, that the piece of info is concerned over the time table for tools and middleware release as opposed to difficulty of PS3. And with Faf's input, they seem to be are doing better than what happened with PS2.
The move MS has made to get the 360 out so quickly thus forcing Sony to get the PS3 at a (possibly) ucomfortable time frame may be showing its effects now.
The Take Out Bandit said:Someone needs to be beaten senseless with a Powerpoint presentation. :lol
Yes! They announced all of this years ago, are still launching a year later; but really MS forced their hand! HONEST!![]()
Sony themselves have said that they would have waited another year to get the PS3 out.
The Take Out Bandit said:I did not get this memo.
Odd considering GAF is The Place to be for this sort of news. Can someone back this up?

Jonnyram said:You can hang me now... the middleman added the Squenix line himself - it's not in the original article. I've corrected the story and added further details from the article.
Faf's the man in this thread, though. He's right on the mark with his comments - english versions of middleware will slow down the Japanese developers, but that's not the main problem for now, I think.
