All we know is the name at this point:
Kryon (sp. not known - katakana is kuraion)

It'll be featured in the latest issue of Famitsu Xbox360.

as good as BD & LO are looking & even the DS game, i'm def excited to see what this game is gonna look like.

this seems apt for this thread

good news for 360 fans...mistwalker is the only reason for me to own a 360...cant wait for more info on the third game!

Now they should build an European studio like that, get Raynal & Chahi to work together and give the gfx work to Rare since it seems they cant make a good game by themselves.

Impressive. So, Bioware and Mistwalker are the two heavyweights for X360, RPG output-wise. That, plus we've not seen the Squeenix unveiling of their other X360 title yet. Then the rumor of Tri-Ace one and smattering of other developing RPGs on the system and I'd say that X360 is destroying the original XBOX for RPGs already and is becoming a very viable alternative/supplement to Sony platform RPG output. What's the Phantom Dust team doing right now? Weren't they working on an action-adventure game or even an RPG, as well?

AFAIK Team Tree is working on a new game concept.

There is also "Fallout 3: Morrowind with Guns" and "Project New Jersey" by Obsidian.

Cool! I really have high hopes for this team, especially after such an amazing debut with PD.

What the heck is Project New Jersey?

It's brave of them to commit to yet another title before DOA4 has launched.
Someone has to make games before people will buy it :P
Besides, if it's another Microsoft-funded endeavour, I don't see what's so brave about it.

I just did a search and nothing is coming up for me either. I guess we'll just have to wait till E3 for info I suppose

Tell that to Boss Game Studios and Oddworld.

Found some shaky shit on it... Involves a new IP, but is one that is inspired by an existing one, which is pretty popular. Lots of speculation on the theme, but concept work of a Snow White-style of dwarf is supposedly involved making it seem like there could be a more typical fantasy-based feel to it. Uses UE3 and is console-exclusive, though I don't see anything pointing to an exclusive release on either PS3 or X360.

What do those developers have in common with Mistwalker? I don't get it.

Excellent news. Judging by how BD and LO seem to be turning out (and with developers like friggin Artoon), I'm really interested in whatever Mistwalker tries to produce. :)

Did anyone see the last episode of Season 1 of Drawn Together? Whenever I see a thread about Mistwalker I sing the Apprentice parody theme song in my head.

Cash cash cash
Don't you wish you had a buttload

There is no reasonable explaination as to why a man of your taste would be compelled to view this program. I am disappointed, sir.

LOL. What you said reminds me of what Shane Kim said in an interview a few years ago. I swear I wish I had the link still, it was a great interview. He tried to map out the future of the 360 and came to 2 conclusions. Buy up great franchises and make them exclusive. The other choice was to take the top talent from other development companies and have them make their games exclusive and grow with the Xbox brand.

Hironobu Sakaguchi of Final Fantasy fame
David Jones, creator of GTA and Lemmings
Ian Hetherington, creator of Wipeout
Tony Harman, executive director of Donkey Kong Country 1-3 on SNES
Yoshiki Okamoto, producer of Street Fighter 2
Tetsuya Mizuguchi, creator of Rez and Lumines
Naoto Oshima, creator of Sonic

Many others are on this list, this is off of the top of my head

Shane said that franchises can fade, he used Tomb Raider as an example because when Toby Gard left, it fell to shit. Franchises fade, but the talent is there forever. They chose talent of existing franchises, that was the best thing to do by far.

Hironobu Sakaguchi of Mistwalker (Lost Odyssey,Blue Dragon) is allegedly currently working on a a new title called Cryon (Kuraion). This surfaced following a printed advertising in a Japanese magazine. The genre is still unclear.

Basically a recap of this topic :D

I think it's Sakaguchi's game as much as N3 is Mizuguchi's game. i.e. nominal participation

I doubt that's true. Clearly the character designers, writers and composers for his games come from his personal relationships, and he's been honest about what he's contributed (for example BD's story originally started with him, then Toriyama bounced a better story off him and now that's the basis of the game.) He's also personally giving demos to journalists and is clearly conversant in the technical details. There's no reason to believe major decisions are being made on the games without his input or vetting.

It's just a different model of making a game, more akin to Hollywood after the studio system collapsed and you got "studio-less studios" like United Artists. After all the problems JRPG devs have had these past few years retaining talent and releasing games on time it seems like a good one.

Exciting. Hope its a different gameplay concept than the others, but either way, all of Mistwalkers titles are enigmas atm. MS paid out the ass for some poor exclusive this gen, but coming into next-gen they seem to have focussed on quality. Lets see how this pans out...

Cool.

But MS needs to get some big Japanese RPG franchises on the console. FFXI and Mistwalker games isn't going to buy them success over there.

JRPGs might be the 360's strength. Go figure. Wouldn't it be funny of DQ goes to the 360 instead of the PS3?

yeah, wouldn't it be funny if Halo 3 went to the PS3 instead of the 360?

While I doubt DQ on 360 (exclusivily at least) would ever happen, comparing a 3rd party game to a 1st party game is not really fair.

Ian Hetherington, creator of Wipeout
Ian is still employed at SCEE, Studio London to be exact. He won't be making any Xbox games any time soon. The only high ranking employee from Psygnosis that isn't still with Sony right now is Mike Ellis, lead designer of the first Colony Wars game. He's with Crystal Dynamics last I heard.

Glad to see the 360 getting some RPG lovin'. I'm more interested in Oblivion and Shadowrun, but I don't really know much about the Mistwalker titles yet.

You are wrong. Ian Hetherington works for Real time Worlds, who is indeed making titles for the 360.
