It's on Sony MiniDiscs and only 3.5" floppy discs. It's a latch that slides to expose the bottom of the disc so it can be read when it's read in the machine. Then when you take it out, the "gate" closes and protects the bottom of the disc.
No gate = scratched UMD's/UMD DRE errors here we come!

The only knock I have against it is that it's a little bit thick when it's all closed up, so it's not going to fit in anyone's pocket or anything like that. But it gives you some piece of mind when it's sitting there in a backpack or something. And the UMD storage area keeps those gate-free bastards pretty well protected as well.

Hmm, would the headphone compartment on it be big enough for the power cord? And I don't mind the size, My DS case is basically the size of a cd holder book. All that matters to me is that I have a convinent all in one bag to use instead of having to lug it around seperately XD Not to mention it's not very organized!
I'm gonna go ahead and try to pick up a few of those Koei cases. Anyone want one? I'm not sure on the final price (I need to see how much they charge me for shipping and delivery) but it'll probably be $35 + $5 for shipping to you (that's $40 for the mathematically impaired). It may take a week or two for me to receive them, too, so if you're in a big rush, don't ask me to get you one.
