Any alternatives to SonicStage? (**** Sony!)

Fucking shit.

It worked fine when I first bought my MD player a few months ago, but now whenever I try to import files in my library, it freezes, and whenever I try to transfer tracks, it freezes (To the point of fucking up my entire PC).

I'm running Windows XP and an AMD system (3200 +, 1 gb ram, so I shouldn't be having any problems).

Is there any alternative software or am I fucked?

Do you have the newest SonicStage? Even though SonicStage does suck overall, nothing is worse than have Real Player on your pc.

If you've got enough space on your HD, you can create a .iso of an audio CD, mount it using Daemon Tools, Isobuster, etc., and then open SimpleBurner (I think that's the name) and rip to your MD.

I updated SonicStage. It stopped freezing when importing, but still froze on the file transfer.

With RealPlayer, more bullshit. It imports to the library really fast, but it froze at 15% on the second song of my transfer.

I'm going to try making an .iso. But I won't be able to change the bitrate, will I?

Is it possible that nothing's working because there might be a problem with the player itself? I hope not....

Stupid 15% problem...

Try deleting then installing SS again. That worked for me when I had similar issues.

With Simpleburner, you pick SP/LP2/LP4, so no worries, just create an .iso of an ordinary audio CD. If you're using Nero to make an image I think it creates a .nrg or something, and you have to use Nero Image Drive (I think that's the name) to mount it. Ugh I hate Nero :p

Edit:

If you're going to reinstall SS, go through your registry and delete everything Sony related, as well as check your HD for any directories.

Shit. Exactly the same thing happened to me. I wondered if it was because of some Windows patch. Anyway, I went out and bought an iPod Mini the next day and never looked back. Battery life sucks but the sound is just as good.
