I'm looking for a standalone unit like this:

But i'm not sure if thats any good, the reviews say so.. but most of them look like they were written by a 2 year old.

Anybody use something similar? I'd like to be able to turn the computer off when i'm using it sometimes, but if it will take getting a PCI card to get the best quality then so be it.

It will be used for basic and limited off air tv watching, and non progressive scan PS2/Xbox/GC games.

a pci (or USB2 if you must) WinTV type card would be better as you can watch TV (or listen) while you use the PC. same price too.

I have a PCI card (Leadtek Winfast TV2000 Deluxe). Cable SDTV looks pretty bad on my LCD. Definately watchable, but I rarely use it.

HDTV looks great though (Tried ATI's HD tuner card).
