Many “Whelps”! Handle It!
I keep a spreadsheet for expenses, as I have no debt and keep things simple so I never gave it much thought. But I'd like to make better use of my money rather than just willy nilly spreading it across my various savings and money market and IRA accounts. I recently cut down on streaming services and pay my car insurance premium upfront (because why pay installment fees?), so my monthly expenses are super low.
My current expenses and left over funds are as follows (the electricity bill is an estimate - it gravitates in the $50 range):
So as you can see I have nearly $4k a month for whatever. Leisure, food, gas, charity, political donations, etc. But I'd like to get some structure and make this excess money work better for me. I feel like it's a bad idea to just keep spreading it across my savings accounts.
