Any word on MGS3 for PC?

I really want to play this game, but I don't want to spend money on a console just for one game. I know MGS and MGS2 were ported to the PC so is it safe to assume that MGS3 will too, or were sales for the PC versions of MGS 1 & 2 disappointing that Konami may decide to skip porting MGS3?

Also, what was the MGS2 port like for the PC? Were there any problems/glitches/bugs when compared to the PS2 version?

Did they ever even release a version of MGS2 for the PC?

I know that the PC got a version of MGS1, no?

Doubtful...

Substance was the result of Konami's agreement with Microsoft to release a Metal Gear title on XBOX. They simply added more content to MGS2 and called it Substance. From that point, porting to the PC was dead simple, so that was a no brainer. They also decided to release a version of Substance for the PS2 (likely due to the fact that the engine was already present on PS2).

They have no reason to port MGS3 to another platform this time, however. MGS2's PC port wasn't too hot either. First of all, it was not initially compatible within anything but nVidia cards (GeForce 3 and up, not including MX). They had to add Radeon support via a patch. Also of note, it suffered from many of the graphical flaws present on XBOX (as it was an XBOX port), so it failed to compare to the PS2 version (in every way outside of resolution).

It was also an absolute pain in the ass to configure. They used the Dual Shock 2 to its fullest and many of those functions are not possible on the PC. As a result, the controller setup became quite a challenge. In fact, using a PS2 pad on the PC wasn't even enough, as the typical PS2->USB converters do not support the more advanced features of the DS2.
