Anyone care to aid me in searching for a good Web Hosting service?

I really have no clue what i'm looking for with this, but the general idea is to have an independent web site for showing off certain services that the person can/will do in his local area.

Can anyone give me the run-down on what exactly I should be looking for? This isn't for me, btw. A family member asked for some help, and this is probably the only thing on the internet I know nothing of.

He also needs someone to set up the website, and so far, his first reply was a person who was willing to do:

Graphic design (graphics and layouts for the web or print, logos, etc.)
Web development (dynamic pages, scripting, etc)
Flash
Search engine optimization
Web maintainence and support (I don't provide hosting).
Photography (ex. product shots, etc).

for $50 an hour, and said a brochure site (8-10 pages) would usually cost around $500-$1000 average. Now I have no clue how someone price checks shit like this, so I've been looking around.

Now what this person wants is to simply show off what he is willing to do, sell, whatever. He doesn't want to actually use the site for selling goods, only to show it off. Pretty much, a brochure web site.

At this point, ANY help would be great. Link to a reliable hosting service/advice/etc is all extremely appreciated, and hugs will be sent out via PMs.

Godadddy would be my pick for a hosting service for that site. They have really reasonable rates, are reliable, and you can always find coupons online for even better deals.

they are reasonably cheap. the problem with them is ssl certs. those are cheap too but godaddy certs require an extra bundle be installe in order for it to work right and some browsers may not recognize it as a valid cert at all.

that's beside the topic of this thread though so yeah, godaddy is good too.
