Anyone else find watching sports incredibly boring?

I'd been losing interest in watching sports gradually over the last few years, and I pretty much don't watch any now.

On the other hand, I've been very entertained watching Starcraft 2 tournaments lately, they've pretty much filled the spectator sport void for me.

Yes, my view has always been "why watch someone else play a sport, when I myself could be playing it" although I'm sure this must sound very stupid. I just don't find it entertaining at all to watch other's play sport.

I like watching sports highlights. During full-length games, I usually get turned off by all the commercialization (e.g. "this play brought to you by..." and such)

Why watch a movie when you could write , direct and act in your own?

I used to be bored to death by sports. Them I started going to them. With the right team and the right crowd almost any game can be amazing. You can almost feel the electricity in the the air. Sharks games are the best games EVER!

I rank them in 4 categories:

Awesome to watch: Tennis, Rugby, Football, Handball, Handegg

Cool to watch: Volleyball, Basketball, Hockey

Cool for a few minutes: Darts, Snooker

GTFO: Racing, Golf, Cycling

On TV yes, I can't stand it it's so dull. But actually going to a live game with friends is completely different. Even if I dont understand the game completely the excitement is so contagious I can't help but have fun.

I've tried to get into sports a bunch of times since my guy watches pretty much everything.
I had a little bit of success with hockey but I tend to lose interest in all of them after a while. I keep trying despite failure, but I'm not sure I'll ever be into them.

NFL - no
NBA - somewhat
MLB - yes
Tennis - depends on if the girls are screaming
Hockey - sometimes
Soccer - usually
Auto racing - something you have to see in person but otherwise, yes.

Most television sports have too much downtime. Rugby and UFC are the only ones I watch because of this. I can't stand football but baseball is definitely the worst. I don't get the excitement.

You're a nerd, nerd. Stop being a nerd and join us normal people in normal society, nerd.

I could watch an insanely large amount of basketball before growing bored (Well, NBA or FIBA, never got into NCAA) , but no other sport grabs me as something to watch.

Sport fandom is inherited. I care about baseball and football because my dad beat Cincinnati sports into my head since I was born. I know.

I can watch any NFL game but only care about watching the Reds in MLB. Don't even bother with the playoffs.

I was really into sports until a couple of years ago, I gradually lost interest and now only watch if other people are. I have always hated hockey and baseball though.

I just dont get team sports at all. So you just want to get the ball or puck into a net or basket more than the other team? That's amazingly boring to me and I don't get it! I was born with the inability to be amused by this strange setup. I also am not big into the tribal aspect of working with a team, rooting for a team. I'm independent, fuck teams.

But MMA or boxing.. That I get. Taking down another human is intuitive to me. Same goes for snowboard stunts or anything like that.. That's innately impressive. Anything speedy is cool too: racing, skiing, whatever.

Team sports is like religion, apparently the majority of humanity is supposed to be enraptured by it but I must be an alien or something because I find ZERO appeal.

I hated it as a youngster. Then I chose a team to follow, and now my happiness is semi dependant on the performances of that team. Help me

Only time I get sleepy/bored is during Red -Yankees games, those fucking games are too long

I mean I like sports, but when your baseball game starts clocking into a 2-day test cricket match, somethings gotta give

I love the NFL and NBA.

MLB? meh. I can get into baseball in October somewhat, but

Everything else? bleh.

Fantasy sports and sports books make sports even more interesting.

This is true. I have been a Montreal Canadiens fan since I was old enough to speak, because my dad was a Montreal Canadiens fan since he was old enough to speak, etc.

Team sports is like tribalism; you 'hate' rival teams and their fans just because they're on the other side. And then when players leave for the other team, its taken personally
