Anyone else getting annoyed by it? I accidentally clicked it once when I was half asleep then had to spend 10 minutes getting rid of it and updating all my security shit. No harm done, it seems... but there's sooo many people who are computer illiterate, it would seem that they don't know how to keep it the fuck away.

Is there like a rule where if you go a full day of knowing you have an IM virus, and that you're helping spread it, and you do nothing then you forfeit your right to use a computer for 2 weeks? If its not a rule it should be one.

most of the shitty AIM viruses and whatnot are links in the users profile

Every now and again though, you'll hit one where someone's virus sends out IMs telling you to click a link

what it does is pose as a link your friend sends you. i got it cuz I have a friend who's generally a dumbass and finds all these weird eclectic internet links, so when he sent it to me i just assumed it was fine. even let it d/l... then once it did, mcaffee was able to neutralize the file but it started rifling through my AIM buddylist. I shut down aim, rebooted in secure mode, found the file, deleted it, went back and restarted again into normal mode, ran virus scan and all my adware scanners and never heard from it again, but my stupid friends keep getting it, and you can tell cuz it just pops up as a random link from them.

haha, well, in the middle of like a box popping up every second, the mcaffee box came up and said "VIRUS DETECTED". it was like "...thanks for clearing that up.. i COULDNT TELL!"

no, even had an addres that sounded more or less legit, something like "www.funnypictures.com" or something with the obligatory //%?10-.htm/zkep011392.jpg after it.

What's even funnier is that someone I like went to middle school or some shit will be the one sending me the "link" and I'm always like "wtf... I'm still on their buddy list? We haven't spoken on or offline in SIX YEARS"
