Anyone else reevaluating their content consumption going into 2025?

As the year comes to a close I find myself lately reevaluating what I'm doing with my time. I've been going through my playlists and trimming the songs that I don't really care for anymore or don't really fit me anymore. I'm going through the Youtube channels and Twitch streams I'm subscribed to and either cutting ones where the creator has fallen off or adding new ones where they fit what I want to focus on going forward. I'm going through the subreddits that I follow and cutting pointless ones or adding new ones that interest me. Same thing for forums, discords, and communities that I belong to.

Anyone else reevaluating the content they focus on going into 2025?

No more Reddit for starters. It's slowly turned into Facebook.
I still remember when it was genuinely good. When it wasn't filled with bot posts and reposts. When posts didn't get 22k upvotes despite being posted to the entirely wrong sub. When it wasn't all outrage at all times. But those days are long gone. One by one I dropped all of the subs that used to be useful or informative.

Science, for example, became filled with thinly veiled political posts under the guise of "social science" (doesn't belong in science at the best of times). Then when you ask about other subs so you can follow some actual science the whole comment thread gets deleted.

Reddit is a shell of its former self that looks alive because it's moving, but that's because it's filled with maggots. Rant over.

Yes indeed. No new game purchases, still have huge backlog and on last gen with PS4 Pro and One X. I could go another three years without getting any new games. I barely watch any new movies released. Could count on one hand the 2020s movies I watched. Going to watch Y2K tonight though. Same story with various old TV series. Only a handful I could go back to now. Nothing new seems to catch my eye.

I'll be reading much more books. Whenever something good pops up on my movie/game radar I'll watch it. but I'll try to minimize the amount of slop in my entertainment.

I deleted the app off my phone yesterday. It’s the 4th or 5th time I’ve done it but I always end up downloading it again a week or two later. Trying to make it stick this time. It’s such a waste of time. I’ve been on Reddit since 2010 but the demographic has shifted. For the first few years it was mostly nerds on there. Now it’s every asshole. Apparently even my mother-in-law now posts on there for fuck’s sake.

I'm phone addicted like many. Social media is a big-time sink that is 90 percent useless. Facebook and Reddit specifically. I'm always trying to be on my phone less and less. There are a million better things you can do for your mental and physical health. It would also save me a lot of money since I wouldn't be constantly bombarded with ads for the latest and coolest thing.

I am cutting back on “internet” time, I have already scaled back when I am working and no longer checking websites/reddit/etc. 10-15 times a day. Now I just jump in once or twice throughout the work day and for just a few minutes to see if anything big is happening. I am going to start doing this at home too. I usually do a ton of multitasking. I am going to start working toward less of that and focus more on what I am actually doing. For example, if I am watching a TV show or movie, I will sit at the couch instead of my desk where I have several other things going on. I have always multitasked but I need to trim it down to one or two things at a time instead of four or a thousand.

Alcohol consumption yes
I am adding to mine. I used to drink too much. Now I rarely drink at all. I pretty much stopped once the granddaughter was around the house a lot. Now that she is older and both her and my daughter stay at their house a lot more, I think I am going to start drinking a bit to unwind some evenings. I kind of miss having a good drink or beer.

I need to drink less. These past few weeks, since Thanksgiving, I feel I am having a few drinks almost every night. I want to cut way back and only drink alcohol when I am out for a nice meal or in a social setting vs. just having a few to watch a movie or hang with my family.
I also need to watch way less YouTube. It has destroyed my attention span and made it difficult for me to focus, sit through a movie or television show, or pick up and play a game I know I'll love. In the absence of having a plan, I seem to default to YouTube and waste my time watching a half dozen videos on the exact same content. I feel YouTube pulls me away from the things I love by making me watch videos about the things I love vs. just doing them.

Yes. I'm reducing the number of podcasts I listen to, and also eliminating my obsessive habit of checking the news multiple times a day. I need more silence and less noise.

I did this year and am now at a point where I‘m fine. I have 3 hours average screen time daily per week now. Think that’s just fine.

I spend most of my free time reading non fiction books and gaming. Podcasts I listen to during my workout and meal preparation. Movies I only watch during my meals.

I will have to check the liquor cabinet when I get home. I just found out my DL expired last August so no stops at the liquor store on the way for me. LOL.

I am sure It mostly has household brands, I know I have some Absolute Vodka (no idea which ones), Patorn Respsado, Jack Daniel’s, Jameson, etc. If I remember right I should still have some Johnnie Walker Blue Label (I hope so). As for beer, this time of year I like Guinness and Anchor Steam as my (used to be) daily drinkers. I do have a decent assortment of wines from some small vineyards in Cali but I do not drink wine often (even in my drinking days). While I do like better beers and wine when I have the opportunity to purchase them, I’m not that fancy when it comes to drinking, I grew up on Jack Daniel’s and Milwaukee’s Best. :)

Nah, I fully intend to go back down the anime hole. In fact, it's already started.

Though I did go on a YouTube cull a few years ago.

I also removed myself from all social media apart from a few forums. Reddit is purely for finding solutions. I have kept Facebook for the few people I can only contact on there, but I never scroll the feed.
