I'm modeling this 3D environment of a shinto shrine and I have good reference for the outside but, I need to know what kind of stuff you'd find inside. Google wasn't very helpful since I don't really know what to look for. What I need is some good pictures of things that would go inside a shrine, maybe the names of some stuff, and maybe some of he Japanese characters that would be written inside or around the shrine to help with the texturing. Help me out here GAF.

Inside the shrine there is usually a statue of the kami that's being worshipped/honored at the shrine. In front of the shrine, there would be a bell, whose pupose is to summon/awaken the kami to hear your prayer. Some examples of kamis are Inari, a fox kami, or suijin, a water kami.

That about all I remember from Asian Religions class. I was stoned for most of it.

Check out My Neigbor Totoro, the anime, Miyazake uses lots of Shinto shrines in his movies.

If I recall correctly, there are also a few in the beginning of Shenmue.

Thanks, guys. I completely forgot about Shenmue. I'll boot up the DC and check that out.
