I had Lasik surgery performed last thursday. My prescription beforehand was about -4.5 -- So, very poor vision without glasses. I wouldn't have been able to read anything on the chart.
On the day of the surgery, I couldn't see much at all, and it felt like I had sand in my eyes. The following day I was able to see functionally -- About 20/40, and with a bit of double vision, especially in the right eye (which I'm told has to do with my astigmatism). During the day after checkup, the doctor told me it would probably be good within about a week.
Five days later I had no progress, and, in fact, it got a little worse. I had another follow up and they said to give it time, and that it may take several weeks.
At this point it's been 8 days since the surgery, and still no improvement from the day after. Again, if anything, it's a little worse (from the day after -- make no mistake, my "naked" vision is still a lot better than what it was pre-surgery). In my current state it's very difficult to read the monitor from normal reading distances, and doing my work (art/animation) is quite hard. In addition to blur, I'm still getting a bit of "cloudiness". Bright lights/whites kind of wash out and bleed into other things. Looks "gaussy".
I will continue to follow the doctors and do what they recommend, but I must say I'm getting a little anxious. I was just wondering if anyone had any insight into this such that it may make me feel a little better - and if there's actually a real chance my vision will kick in even after 8 days of no progress. Often, I hear of near instant results when it comes to Lasik. That's kind of what I was hoping for initially, but, that said, I'd be fine if it took more time just so long as I can eventually see well.
