Now if we were all chain smoking cigarettes, thin, and in a post-BC but pre-HIV world, yeah I can see where maybe that culture proliferated a bit. Though I find it very hard to believe things like "key parties" were EVER that common versus doing it while away on vacation.

Wife and I downloaded an app on our iphones (we were boyfriend/girlfriend at the time we started). SwingLifestyle (SLS) app. You can do a free account, but we did pay by month at the time. We chose to look at SLS events instead of dates with other swingers. There are tons of events throughout the United States. Many of them align with holidays, as well a home parties including bar takeovers, boating, etc. We found an event that was a halloween party, and it was sponsored by a swingers Group (there are tons of groups). You pay the head of the Swingers group to attend the party, which they organize and attend. That payment gets you a hotel room (btw, they do hotel takeovers, so they book the entire hotel), as well as access to the party. They bring in food and NA drinks, they have a DJ. You bring your own alcohol. We have full access to the hotel pool/hot tub. Everyone dressed up for Halloween. It was a blast. From there, we decided to find a "date" on the app. We found a couple that seemed very similar. We connected, got each others cell numbers, and we met at a bar about 45 minutes from our house. There was a swinger event at the bar, so we at least were in a crowd of people with similar tastes. We met them, and we instantly hit it off with them and made plans to hang out a week later. We ended up going to swingers parties with them, then became friends with them as well. Attending family events, we know each others kids and have attended events with them. There are times where we do the swing thing between the four of us, but then the other times, we are just hanging out, boating, etc. My wife became good friends with her, and I am good friends with him. But now we only see each other once a year, as they moved a few states away because of his job.

I'm not into it but I know it's very common. I had people approach my wife and I and invited us to events. Usually it's another couple approaching us telling us what a beautiful couple we are.

Nope, it's one thing to get off on the idea in your head and another to actually go through with it, its cheating, me and my wife would not be cool with it. We don't share. I've had many opportunities, one time I was giving a couple a ride when I used to do uber , and the husband asked me if I wanted to go back to their hotel and hang out with them. I don't even know these people, first time I'm meeting them but I told them no but thanks. They were here from Indiana on vacation. I tend to stay away from such people, even in a conversation if I find out they are swinger's we walk away. I don't want to hang out with such folks, no disrespect but it's not something I want to entertain.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could normalize stuff like this but like, without the swinging.

Like, it would be great to go to events and meet other similar couple / families and make friends, but without dudes expecting to bang my wife out of it.

From statistics people who visit sex clubs and swinger events are actually behind sex workers in getting themselves tested and checked out on a regular basis and practice safe sex.

Odds are that you're extremely more likely to catch an STD from a nightclub hook up or an office fumble than you would at a swinger event! Crazy isn't it?
