Anyone played Ribbit King?

I read some reviews and found out it's a golf game played with Frogs i.e, 'Frolf'

It actually sounds like Monkey Target.

Was wondering if this is true, cuz if it is I'll buy it.

It's actually not that bad. A fun afternoon at least.
I like the courses and it's a pretty unique take on golf.

Very, very cute and cuddly if you can stomach that.

It's so-so. It starts out being really fun, but after a while the randomness of it all gets to you and it starts to be annoying. It has some genuinely funny and cute cutscenes, though.

Good game, definitely worth $20 especially for multiplayer.

It can get a bit random sometimes, but in a way that's part of it's charm in multiplayer - pulling off an outrageously flukey shot that gets hit from one thing to the next. And the skill is in deciding where to aim to maximise the potential of a super-flukey shot :)

Don't take it too seriously and it's a good little party game. It would have been interesting if another developer, such as Amusement Vision, had done it. If it was tidied up and more refined it could be great.

I agree. There are lots of laughs to be had with a nicely chained up series of randomness, but at least in singleplayer not getting where you want gets pretty old. Especially when your opponents start giving you something that at least resembles a challenge.

I'd say it's worth $20, though. I laughed out loud at the intro and the one cutscene where the panda challenges you to a VS fight and lifebars drop down at the top of the screen...and I usually never "LOL" at stuff when I'm alone. Maybe my sense of humor is weird, though.

This game gets a big fat MEH from me. It's got that cutesy artsy fartsy going for it, but the actual gameplay is ... woosh.

I can't say anything! But for $10 I'm sure you won't feel bad, since it only came out for $20 from the start.

Yea, not that good a game.

The ending video in the demo freaked me out

it's very relaxing.

when playing single player, it's best to play on the computer while the computer takes it's damn time.

"At least I'm not a picnic basket!"
My sister loves the game. I love the quirkyness. Get the Cube version. Ribbit King Plus videos kick ass.

It's worth $10, for sure, but as posted, the randomness gets in the way of fun once you start actually playing to win & not just soak up the bizarre atmosphere.

IIRC, the GC one looks a bit better and runs A LOT better. There could have been something wrong with the PS2 or with the disc I played on the PS2, but I almost wrote the game off right away from the awful framerate. Then I played the GC one, which I enjoyed fairly well by the way. It's far from perfect, but it's got plenty of charm if you've got enough patience.

I'm just astounded that they actually took the time to put in some decent voice acting in the game. There are games that are far better with far, far, faaaar, worse voice acting. I was expecting ultracrappy localization, and it was really pretty charming.

The gameplay, alas, did get old fast, unfortunately.

The GC version was sold out at BB. Must be pretty popular. Plenty of the PS2 version for 10$.

I guess I'll check Gamestop this weekend. I'll probably prebuy a PSP while I'm at it.

And pick up some protein powder at GNC.

That's my favorite corner of the mall.

Charming, or overtly homosexual?
