If so I need help? How the hell are you suppose to kill that dog thing that kills the doctor in the oil rig. The one you fight right after you get the grenade launcher. Tried using that but you can't aim worth shit with it, tried the machine gun but it moves too fast. Thanks for the help.

Let's get some impressions!

I'm also interested in the game, but with the PSP launch next week in addition to God of War, Spikeout, and Phantom Dust...I don't just want to jump on it.

I'm not a game reviewer so I will do the best I can. First let me say that the storm effects in this game are great. Story wise it's the standard RE plot instead of being set in a town it's set on a ship. Basically you run from room to room looking for keys to unlock locked doors and sometimes spare parts to fix stuff that leads you to parts of the ship you can't get to otherwise. If you hate the RE control scheme, I'm talking about RE 1-3 and Code named Veronica I haven't played 4, then you are in luck as the developers decided to use the proper control scheme in the game. You move the stick to the left and your character will move to the left, not pivot. You click the left trigger, I have the Xbox version and you bring up your weapon, the camera moves over your shoulder like Splitter Cell. The only camera problem I’ve run into is shooting downward when you are above an enemy, like say at the top of a flight of stairs. Your body will get in the way and you can't get off a precise shot. Why would you need to get off a precise shot you may ask, well because unlike RE the zombies can't be killed unless you shoot them in the head? Supposedly there is a finite amount of ammo so shooting wildly until you get a head shot isn’t recommended, as you may later on in the game be SOL. I’ve only run out of pistol ammo maybe 4 times since I’ve started, but I’ve had other weapons to bring to bear when that happened. The ammo situation doesn’t seem to be as big as the manual played it up to be, but I am playing on normal. If you can't get the head shot before they are on you then you can press the B button perform a melee attack that will knock zombies back and give you some time to reacquire your aim? The graphics look great on this, almost reminds me of a 3rd person Doom 3. Depending on your TV and level of graphic whorism you may disagree. From what I've heard from others, it's a pretty short game. The time to completion I've heard bounced around was 9 hours game time, but others have said 12. It's not original or innovative but it is a lot of fun if you like this type of gave.

I used the shotgun, and later the flamethrower on these types of enemies.

That first encounter though, you can just run past if you need to.

You can stomp on their heads when they hit the ground, Silent hill style. You dont have to go for a headshot if you dont want to.

How does Cold Fear compare to RE4?

Hmmm, I'll got out on a limb and say not too favorably. Keep in mind though, you could have substituted any game for Cold Fear and RE4 would still outclass it. The vibe I get from Cold Fear (and I will be getting it at some point) is that it's definitely worth it for fans of the genre and has some cool elements and good production, but it's not a classic or anything like that. A solid title is all I'm expecting, with a few surprises here and there.

Any further impressions? It's 39.99 at Fry's so even though I haven't opened up RE4 yet I may pick it up.

Maybe that's good thing to play CF first.
