I just watched Hollow Man. Spoilers below. I remember this being pretty poorly received, but I enjoyed it in the theater, and I enjoyed it again tonight. It's nothing spectacular, but the effects are kind of fun and there really aren't a ton of movies about the invisible man. It's an interesting idea. Didn't realize it was a Paul Verhoeven flick.
And I swear I don't go looking for this shit lol, but this is yet another example, from 20 years ago now, where the protagonist is the strong sexy scientist Elizabeth Shue character. I mean ostensibly it's Kevin Bacon, but Shue is the hero in the end, she's literally tending to a downed James Brolin in the climax before heading off to face the villain, tranq gun in hand. 20 years ago. It's just insane how obviously false this narrative of "women don't have positive representation in media" is. If you say shit enough people really do believe it I guess.
