Anyone who has flown or is flying to New York state in Nov/Dec: Are the travel restrictions mandatory or just guidelines

I want to fly home for a small family gathering on Christmas. I read there are NYS guidelines in place that say I have to take a test 3 days before departing and then take and pass a second one before I fly home, otherwise I have to quarantine for 14 days.

My question is are these just recommendations or is it enforced? I cannot risk getting stuck there for 2 weeks and am trying to figure out if I have to cancel

So if I fly in and try to get on my return flight home without proof of a negative test, I can't get on my flight home?
I believe, and this is off the top of my head so honestly I'm not your best source, I think you would be quarantined would you arrive back in new york

It's the other way around, I'd be visiting New York and my worry is they won't let me on my flight back to TX without documentation of a negative test

The state does not have the power to keep you off a plane. I traveled when they just started making you fill out a quarantine form. They gave it to you on the plane and claimed that I wouldn’t be allowed in without it. It was just some asshole standing outside the gate area asking for forms I just walked by him and threw it in the garbage. The procedures might be different now.

that said I don’t want your COVID ridden diseased body in my state when my freedoms are getting stolen from me based on these numbers. Make sure you’re healthy before you get here please.
