anyone with a 360 not try BC yet?

I booted up a game the day I got it just to see if the console startup would be any different. Started GTA:SA walked around for 5 minutes and went "yeah, whatever..." and popped in a 360 game. No plans to do it again...

Backwards connect?... Pfft...

I don't really give a shit about BC since I don't plan on getting rid of my Xbox any time soon since I'm going to mod the HELL out of it.

I did try out Halo 2 four player splitscreen and it felt a bit sluggish on Coagulation. Might be since I played from PGR3 and PDZ beforehand.

:lol same way i feel. funny enough i was thinking of popping in a gta game too.

See, they were right, no one wants BC. MS should have just left it at halo, halo 2 and ninja gaiden black and the GTA titles. And made it so future key releases on xbox could work on 360 just in case some folks had a 360 but no regular system. Truth be told, backwords compatibility is exactly as J allard said, if the software lineup for a new system sucks balls then the ability to go back and play old games is good. How many people seriously played PS2 backwards compatibility after 2001 ? Not many at all I'd bet, sure you may have popped in a ps1 game a few times but I bet after 10 minutes you took it back out and watched a dvd or played a ps2 game instead. The 360 has a good lineup of titles allready coming so I'm thinking Halo 2 aside it won't see alot of BC use.

No, though I did consider it because I dont have any great 4-player multiplayer games for 360. But then I realized I dont have any for xbox either.

I played Halo yesterday and it felt perfect. God the game is so much uglier than I remember it being. :D Four years is a long time.

WHO THE FUCK EVEN HAS A 360??

Sorry. Lost myself for a moment there. Carry on. :D

CARRY A 360 ON INTO MY APARTMENT, KTHXBYE.

Sorry, sorry. :/

BC doesn't mean shit to me. I put in Halo to see the upscaling. I have people still asking me to play Halo 2, I'll oblige occasionally. BC is meaningless to me.

Not having an Xbox myself, BC is rather important to me. The more robust they get it, the better. Ditto with the PS2. I was forced to skip the PSOne, and it wasn't until I got my PS2 that I started building up BOTH Playstation libraries. I'd like to do the same with the 360.

i still use the ps2's backward compatibililty quite often, and i'd use the 360's backward compatibility if it didn't suck. i did play a bit of halo to test it out, but stopped because it was putting cod2 and pd zero to shame. halo 3, pls.

What are you talking about? A few people here say they don't care, and all of a sudden nobody wants it? :lol :lol

GAF at it's finest folks. It's always a vocal minority. Amazing how 4 or 5 people can speak for everyone.

IAWTP :)

Tried Genma Onimusha. Worked 99% perfectly.

That said, transitioning between Genma and the 360 titles... they sure don't feel a generation apart.

Just yesterday I played a PS1 music game for a good hour (hoo-fucking-ray for actual backwards compatibility). Yesterday. The next instance of me playing a PS1 game on the PS2 was a few weeks earlier, too.

BC is one of the major points of what sold me on the PS2 in the first place, and it is still a feature I use today.

Popped in Halo 2 the second I got my system set up, turned it off in like 10 minutes. I was expecting the 720p to look a little better, but all I got way a bit cleaner with the microphone/headset emulation sounding like total shit. Pass.

I was thinking BC would be all well and good pre-launch, but the reports and the few titles I tried on my current review unit sucked too hard for words. I'll keep my Xbox, thanks you. Now I can also keep Conker, Doom, Splinter Cell, FarCry and Psychonauts. Xbox ftw!!!! :D

Inspired by this thread, I finally tried BC. :p I have only few Xbox1 games left and only two worked: Halo 2 and DOA3. DOA:VB, Wreckless and Voodoo Vince didnt work... But this experiment reminded me how fucking awesome Halo 2 is...havent played it for something like 9 months. Even the first loading screen and music gave me chills. Go MC go! :D I suppose the Xbox1 game saves dont work with Xbox 360..?

Been living under a rock lately? No, seriously? :lol

Pro Evo 5 is the only game I will be BCing, but having no Live or BB Connecction just makes it awkward for me to want to play it :(

Okay, here's another N00B question; How the hell you open the tray when there's a disc inserted? it says "Play the game". Do I have to press on the eject on the console or use the remote? How do I do it with the PAD?!?!? :lol

What would be the benefit exactly? You're sitting on the sofa, going "hmm... I think that poor lil disc would like to see the light of the day... There, open you are ....... ok, little guy, that's quite enough, back inside you go."

i tried some Crimson Skies online.

the only other game i own i havent played yet that actually works is Jade Empire. maybe one day i'll get around to playing it

I would have bought a 360 if i knew it would play Otogi 2 and Panzer. But instead i may buy a used xbox and play the 2 xbox games i wanted to play. So MS has lost a sale with me with weak BC(no oblivion and the need of Media Center to stream video also were deciding factors).

I was also just playing Blood Omen on my ps2, damn that game can be hard. BC is a great thing.

I'm tired of MS reps and loser-fans saying it isn't important because if they implemented it better they'd say it was essential.

I'm also tired of people on this forum that never play their old games saying it isn't important. If you played your old games once in a while you would. And before you say, "hey just keep your old systems plugged in", i doubt my old consoles are going to work forever.

I guess you guys would rather pay MS or Nintendo to download games you already bought. I'm sure some of you anti BC idiots will be buying and downloading your old game collections thgrough Live saying how cool it is to be able to play your old games.

It's one of the first things I did when I went back home with my system. I really, REALLY hope that MS makes some effort to improve BC on X360. Halo 2 looked great but, as it stands now, I'm keeping my Xbox.

PS: PGR3 looks awesome :O

PSS: I need a new tv :/

tried DOA3, Halo and Halo 2... played System Link on both of the Halo's...

if only some other system linkable games worked, like UC/TS2/TS3 especially...

Well then I wouldnt have to press that damn eject button on the console. :p I would prefer do that from the pad. Not a big deal but a nice to have feature.

Well, the remote does have an eject button. I dont see how thats any different than having an eject command available via the controller. I use the remote to eject in order to avoid fingerprinting the drive.

Fingerprinting is actually a good point. Really collects them doesn't it.

MS camp: BC is worthless (as that would put my supported company at a disadvantage). Nobody cares about it. Let me make another post stressing how unimportant it is.

Sony camp: BC is the second coming. Even though I haven't used it in three years, it will definetely be key in the next gen console race. Have you ever heard about Cell btw? Let me tell you about it...

Nintendo camp: BC is a fad. ("Psst, Revolution has BC") No, no, wait, it's AWESOME!!!... err, but online gaming is still a fad, right? ("We're still waiting for the final word on that one") Umm, and what about HD? Crap, right? ("Total") Cool!!

Sega camp: [broken voice]2009. Believe. Or at least stop making Sonic cry. Or me for that matter.[/broken voice]

Jefhn camp: Meh. The Dreamcast 2 I've been playing in my head since 2002 already was BC with every system in existence. With upgraded graphics.

Gamers camp: Holy fuck. Impartiality, do you speak it, motherfuckers?

Another day in the GAF :)

I haven't tried BC yet, but there are a couple games I'm getting simply because they do have BC, and the 360 actually improves the look and performance. The games are Call of Cthulhu and HL2.

I would, but nearly every game I have isn't backwards compatible.

I really hope MS continues to update the backwards compatibility list. It may not mean much to some people, but to me backwards compatibility is quite meaningful. I don't want to keep my fucking Xbox, the sooner they get the games I'm interested in on the backwards compatibility list the sooner I can get rid of it and have one less system taking up space in my room. I'll never understand why people just like to hoarde things if they don't have to.

i'm suprised the games run like they do. emulation? fuck me. anyone who bashes the BC is on crack. this aint not "oh we stuck an xbox chip in the 360" like the ps2 is. i'm actually suprised at how good the games run. full 5.1 and everything. fucking nuts.

IAWT (part of your) P.

My home theater/ game flophouse looks infinitely better thanks to tree sitty. I was able to move my PC, dump my Xbox, de-cable the entire mess and clarify everything. Then ironically my TV fucked up.

I tried Forza but god, did it look like complete shit at 720p on my monitor. Shitty enough to make me not want to play it sadly.

Another day in the GAF :)

I'm now new!!

i know that so much here is skewed but i've been seeing to much "BC is worthless" talk. BC is a great thing that improves as time goes buy.

Yea try MK: Deception- besides Chess it doesnt even work, its funny to see the graphics tear all over the screen... Microsoft should of just waited till they got it right on that one

I know.

The thing is, BC is a great feature. I mean, that's not even an opinion, that's a fact. Whatever arguments people want to make, I'd rather have BC in my systems than not and I'd guess most people here feel the same. Lets be honest, the only reason there's even a discussion going on about it it's because not all next gen systems have full BC, so I'd put into question the validity of those comments to begin with.
