Anything over the counter that will deal with dermatitis ASAP?

It's fucking irritating the shit outta me. I can't sleep, and haven't for four days. My doctor's on vacation and the walk-in clinic is closed. I tried some Aveeno anti-itch and some other thing, and they don't work. The only thing that doesn't drive my insane is if the room is freezing or just really cold.

I feel like shit.

you have any actual aloe that you can get..? If hydrocortisone isn't working, im not sure what else to advise.

how much hydrocortisone does the aveeno shit have?

what kind of dermatitis is it? a topical cream for thrush with corticosteroids works on sebhorraeic (sp?) dermatitis.

Why not ask a pharmacist?

I did. The stuff she recommended didn't help. It says 'natural' and 'steroid free' on it

I don't think it has hydrocortisone? This one:

Maybe try the blue Head and Shoulders, the one with selenium sulfide. It's supposed to be for seborrheic dermatitis.

Isn't that shampoo?

I dunno what type. It's only on my hands. It's probably from work, maybe my gloves? Skin allergy maybe, I'm not sure.

Roll around in a bathtub full of Gold Bond.

Real talk, my dad was a dentist for 40 years and developed serious contact dermatitis from latex gloves.

What set you off, do you know?

Whenever my skin gets crazy I use 1% strength Hydrocortisone. Over-the-counter, cheap and effective for flareups and mild allergic reactions.

Either the gloves or the cold, I dunno.

I'll have to find that Hydrocortisone after work. Does it work immediately or it takes a few days? The pharmacist had pointed out another item, but she said it had some side effects and told me to use the above product instead.

Give you hands a good wash. Then tell your boss you need new gloves that don't do this to you.

Not sure where you are, but it's your employers responsibility to ensure you have adequate PPE.

What's done is done. I've used these gloves before, no problem, but maybe this is a new batch or something, I dunno.

Have you been taking niacin supplement? One side effect is that.

Try the HC cream, used sparingly twice a day on the areas affecting you. OTC HC cream doesn't have a whole lot of effect, so if the itch keeps up you may need to get some prescription strength steroid cream (Higher % HC or probably betaderm). Keep using the moisturizing cream, you can use as much as you want, just space it out by about 30 minutes before and after the HC cream. You can try some other stuff at home like a warm wet compress on the area.

As for other options, the cold can exacerbate the dermatitis. So wear gloves when possible. Also, so can constantly washing your hands, wetting on the area can aggravate it.

Also, people saying to use Selson Blue, do not listen to them. Seborrheic dermatitis is NOT the same as atopic/contact dermatitis.

Edit: Noticed the comments about the gloves too. If it's a contact allergy to the material, use different gloves. It could also be due to the length of time you are wearing the gloves, due to increased moisture build up. Every so often, take the gloves off for a bit, air them out and put a new pair on.

You can develop the allergies long after your first contact with the material.

My work place actually has us monitored for allergies, every month my hands, wrists and back of my neck are checked and a tracking sheet is signed off.

This stuff. You will have to ask your GP for a prescription for pharmaceutical grade medicine though. But this stuff will help immensely. I don't have your condition but I know this is what is prescribed for it 100% unless you have an allergy to the stuff.

Products with colloidal oatmeal.

Aveeno eczema therapy is incredible. It has 381 five-star reviews for a reason. I would not take steroids, it isn't a solution and can worsen many skin conditions with prolonged use. Edit: Aveeno skin relief (suggested by NotThe Guy) doesn't have colloidal oatmeal. Go for eczema therapy. BTW, you can also make colloidal oatmeal at home for soaks.
