Ape Escape 3 screens

If this doesn't come on here, I'm going to bust skulls. Namco x Capcom made me angry enough. What are the sales like for ape escape 2/psp/the party game?

What exactly was so bad about the second Ape Escape? I never played it, I should get it.

Nothing was bad about it. Get it.

The only reason that I can see that it didn't make a bigger splash in the US is because it took over a year to come here. It's quite awesome.

It controls fine, though. The game loses a bit without the sticks, but it's still fun. What hurts that particular port is the amount of loading you must deal with...

Hmph, this is news to me. I've never actually played the game...I just assumed the control would feel crippled. Maybe I'll have to look out for it if there's a price drop.

Seriously, the controls are fine. It simply ends up feeling like a more traditional platformer, but all of the gadgets work very well.

I never liked Ape Escape 2. I bought it on a whim, desperate for some platformers.

It's ok, but there are a fair few flaws. Firstly, the voice acting sucks royal nuts, I didn't like the music either. The way the character moved reminded me of some platformers from the last generation, ie; pretty stiff and lacking animation between movements.

Also the fact that it didn't give you a choice to go keep going in an area to search for the rest of the monkeys. You'd have to get out of the level, and then back in. A pain in the arse.

Sly Raccoon 2 [and to a lesser extent, the original] are MUCH better games.

Ape Escape on PSP is really hurt because of crappy controls and HORRIBLE camera, but it's still enjoyable because the core gameplay is still there.

come on!! Sly 2 sucked to no end. The game is sooo freaking boring and lame. The missions just drag on and on.

I haven't played Ape Escape 2 but Ape Escape 1 on PSX >>>>>>>>>>>> SLY 2

ya I really want to buy Star Ocean III, Ape Escape 2 and Battlefield 2 but sadly I just don't have the money.

I am playing PSI-OPS right and it's really good! That and my backlog are keeping me busy.

Sly 2 was awesome. You're not exactly jumping into 10 enemies at once and beating the shit out of them, you're avoiding them almost entirely. Some of the levels go crazy with the platforming [Like the Prison Break level, or the Blimp level], and that's what I love about it.

To me it's just boring and shitty. The levels are always dark, the cast is annoying, the levels are too long, the music sucks etc. I am still playing it though; I am on the second Canadian level and I should finish it soon. I just had much more fun with Ape Escape on PSX, it was a blast to play.

Damned money (and time). We indeed have an expensive hobby i guess.

Sly 2 is awesome and it's probably the best platforming series on PS2 (not a big Jak fan, but I do love Ratchet). Such awesome gameplay.

Seriously drove me bananas (buzzinnnggg!)

AE1 still ownes however.

I enjoyed Ape Escape 2 for a bit, but I did get bored of it. (Looking forward to AE3 if they bring it here).

Sly and Sly 2 are some of my favorite games. SO much fun.

Ratchet & Clank series is my favorite series of the current generation, but I am getting a bit burnt out of them.

I have a love/hate relationship with the Jak series of games.

Klonoa 2 was excellent, and I highly recommend it.

I thought the voice acting was okay, in a kiddy sort of way. I have the European version though - you have the re-dubbed US version? They removed the offensive british accents I believe. ;)

Nup, I've got the PAL version, where they got the thickest english accents money could buy ;P

Great news that we are getting an AE3. The first was a breath of fresh air. The second was a graphically updated but more linear re-run of the first, which was great fun and had great charm, but at some level disapointed through a lack of ambition.

Here's hoping we lose the linear levels, but retain the charm for AE3. the AE series has always had the potential for sand box style play, with complex AI and emergent gameplay - so here's hoping we get some of that.

The screens show lots of imaginative potential - fingers crossed.

Saru Get You 3 [Ape Escape 3] (PS2, Sony): 9 / 9 / 8 / 10 - (36/40)

Sounds pretty promising!
Let's hope for a western release... I'm going to try to resist importing.
