Ape Escape's Difficulty Level...

Okay, I've been stuck in Spector Land, and I'm in space, where you have to negotiate all of those obstacles and climb up to the very top. WHY did the game get insanely difficult at this part? Right up until now, the game was essentially a breeze, but all of the sudden, bam! the game got insanely hard. The frustrating thing about this, is that this stems mainly from control issues with the PSP's analog nub as far as I can see, it just seems overly hard to judge and negotiate your jumps correctly without falling to certain doom... There's no sweet spot so to speak for your jumps and movements.. it's way too easy to fall off a ledge to your death. The only redeeming factor is that you basically get infinite trys to get it right, but it seems like I've died like 50 times trying to get to the top. ARGH. Anyone else have problems with this? I don't remember the game being this difficult on the PSone. Has anyone beat Ape Escape on the PSP, and if so have you experienced similar frustration?

I don't remember the PSOne game being that hard at all. In fact I beat all the time trials in the game and found all of the monkeys, something I wouldn't have done if it was too frusterating, and this was a while ago. I haven't played it on the PSP yet, but I'd venture to say it is a problem with using an inferior control scheme for which the game wasn't designed, much like the problems people have with Mario 64 on the DS. Ape Escape needs two analouge sticks I'd imagine.

Yeah, Im on the VERY last part, and it was a cakewalk essentially on up until this part... It's still an easy game, just the ending is frustrating beyond all comprehension. I'd imagine you're correct about the botched control scheme which deviates from the original setup used on the PSone.
