Apparently China wants to be #1 at everything, including being white trash. Introducing the Spam and Oreo burger from McDonald's China.

Some of the takes on western food in Asia are confusing.

Here in Korea, garlic bread is doused in sugar, meat and cheese sandwiches are spread with strawberry jam, tomatoes and quail eggs are in fruit salads and pizza is filled with sweet potato and corn.

I've been burned too many times. I love traditional Korean food but when I want a taste of home I cook myself or find a restaurant owned by a foreigner.

That sounds like China too.

Garlic bread baked with honey
Starbucks always ask if you want to heat up a ham Salad sandwich in the microwave.
Sponge cakes with sweetcorn in the sponge
Not realizing cheese and cheesecake are separate things, so you get sweet cheese wafers and crackers.

But tomatoes are a fruit so they are technically correct putting them in a fruit salad.

Tomorrow, I'm going to the other McDonalds in town.

I'm going to find this product that's quite clearly created just because they have too many crushed Oreos from the McFlurries left in the warehouse after a post Covid summer where ice cream sales were down and they've somehow roped Spam into some kind of cross promotional deal because global beef production is down also because of Covid and they need a meat substitute.

Are you sure the crushed Oreos aren't bat feces

So I went to the second McDonalds during the downtime and there was no Spam burger. Just a spicy chicken promotion.

I did see this off brand Sonic on my travels, so you can see that too.

"Luncheon meat is a trending food among youngsters nowadays," Abbie Xie, communications manager of McDonald's in China, told CNN Travel. "It has a very strong meaty and satisfying texture.
"The flavorful and crispy Oreo, on the other hand, is a snack youngsters are familiar with. By creatively combining the two foods, it doesn't only showcase the collision of tastes and textures, it is also quite topical socially."
The limited-edition burger, offered on December 21, was one of McDonald's China's "members only" promotions -- a series of discounts and special offers available every Monday.
A voucher was released for McDonald's members in China to purchase the burger for RMB13.14 ($2).
"We had a total of 400,000 Oreo luncheon meat burgers, available at about 3,700 branches across China -- each branch had a limited supply," said Xie. "The burgers were sold out by noon in some branches. The overall sale was good and there were some fierce discussions on social media sites."
The brand invited netizens on social media platform Weibo to leave their reviews, which were indeed quite mixed.
"Oreos and luncheon meat are surprisingly delicious [together]," said one member. "I thought the sweetness and the savory wouldn't match but it was unexpectedly harmonious and tasty."

Yeah so apparently it was only available Monday.☹️
