Surprised MS doesn't throw them a bone. They already in bed with them tech wise.

I agree on Apple. No doubt they would force Apple TV.

MLB Advanced Media (the people running MLB.tv) was so successful that it actually became it's own company (that now handles streaming for the NHL, the PGA, and WWE). It's possible, and would be super-lucrative if they pulled it off.

and it would be easy to pull off. Just use Advanced Media. It's easily the best streaming service.

Anyone but Verizon.

Verizon is old ass media and they operate like it too.

Apple or Google are my frontrunners.

But that doesn't change the fact it isn't on competing streaming device platforms. Amazon's Fire TV doesn't compete with Xbox/Playstation so obviously they'll release an app for those platforms, but they've yet to do so for Apple/Android TV devices.

But they're on tablets, computers, gaming consoles. Amazon is a far better choice for this than Apple.

Or the NFL could start their own direct streaming service and hoard the money and make it easier for everyone.

But no, lets whore out our property and divide the market.

Business sucks ass so much man.

they do with the NFL Gamepass. NFL Fans around the world , except North America, can watch all games live + redzone.

Yes they do. They already have one. NFL game pass streams every game in the rest of the world.

There also one of the richest leagues in the world. But they make more money on TV deals, so it makes sense to shop the rights then have their own services in the US.

You should ask current NHL subscribers how that transition is going. It's been a nightmare and a lot of features went missing.

So this deal won't include streaming of those Thursday night games that are exclusively on NFL Network? That's awful. As long as that network is tied to a cable/satellite package, I'll never watch those games. The more the NFL disseminates their games across outlets I have to pay extra to get, the less interest I have in a sport that I used to love above any other.

Amazon really is the best option.... even google has lockin on many of their stuff. Amazon does to an extent too but they seem to be the most willing to work on other devices.

I have been really using amazon services more because of this, just look at the echo and how quickly it has been adding external features.

If Amazon got it, wouldn't be surprised if they made it fire exclusive though. They are really trying to find ways for that thing to compete. And unfortunately without things like this, why would you buy a fire over everything else?

Because they're cheaper. Same reason people are buying tons of them now.

I don't think the NFL would allow them to make it fire exclusive.

No Amazon or Verizon please. PLEASE.

Prime Video is terrible and Verizon is just ugh.

Google has a good track record with streaming so they are probably best of the bunch.

I'm going try streaming the Superbowl on my Apple TV this year to see how they are. But with Apple's level of polish, I'm sure it'll be fine.

Apple's level of polish? I take it you haven't watched many of their conference livestreams. Apple are the last company I'd want streaming something I really wanted to watch. Apple isn't streaming the Super Bowl tomorrow. CBS is.

Oh phooey, it's just those darn Thursday night games. Was hoping this would be for some of the Sunday games. Thursday night games are awful. I have no dog in the fight, just as long as it's easy access for all.

- Facebook, which until now has shied away from paying for content, is interested in the games. So far Facebook has been content to let other people upload video onto its giant platform, but its strategy appears to be shifting — it’s also willing to pay celebrities (relatively small sums) to use its Live streaming service.

- Amazon, which been ramping up its own video offering, is also interested. Sources say the company has broader ambitions in streaming sports and is looking to hire a high-level executive to steer that effort.

- Verizon, which already has mobile rights to NFL games, is looking at the package as well. The company is making a significant bet on streaming video, with moves that include the acquisition of AOL and the launch of Go90, a mobile streaming service that’s theoretically supposed to appeal to young viewers. Anecdotal reports from people who have sold Verizon content for the service say there’s no evidence that Go90 has any traction, but that Verizon remains committed to buying even more stuff to show.

- Yahoo, which paid around $20 million to stream a regular-season NFL game last fall, submitted preliminary paperwork in the bidding process. I don’t know if the company, whose management, ownership and strategy are in flux, is still pursuing the games.

- Apple, which could use something dramatic to set its Apple TV box apart from the competition, has determined that this package isn’t enough to pull that off, and isn’t bidding.

At least with Apple I know I could have watched it on my device. Does the Twitter iOS app support streaming?

Which is why it's better it's not Apple. There's no incentive for platform preference. Also I'm pretty sure periscope works fine on iOS, but I don't use apple products, so I leave it to you to find out.

They're going to have to build new infrastructure for this anyway, they'll probably develop it from scratch.

Indeed, it almost certainly won't even use the existing Twitter apps (generally speaking for mobile clients you have to pay the DRM vendor per app install, and Twitter has tens of millions of clients that will never use this and it won't want to pay for. Though I suppose Fairplay might work if they can get Apple to agree, but that limits their distribution protocols in a way that would be unhelpful).
