Apple patents way to secretly call 911 using your fingerprint

Sometimes companies patent something with no intention of keeping it to themselves. Riot Games patented spectator mode. Straight up spectator mode. Yet you see it in hundreds of games. Why? Because they want to protect themselves and others from patent trolls.

Wasn't it for a feature inside the spectator mode rather than spectator mode itself. It's for the self moving camera.
 
Why does every Apple thread degenerate on GAF so quickly? People are bitching about nothing yet it's Apple's fault for something?
 
Am I the only one that thinks this is a potentially bad idea. I can just see thousands if not millions of "accidental" 911 calls coming from iPhones now as people mistakenly use the secret method of calling 911.

There was another thread recently where some guy (who didn't work for Apple) was making the argument that Apple should make a $1500 phone or something, and some people in the thread were still coming up with the usual 'Fuck you Apple' stuff.
