Hey guys, generally I do not B***ch about stuff however my aunt gave me a laptop. She is super doper rich... I am not. I could never afford to spend 3000 Canadian on a Laptop.

Its a MacBook Pro 2016: 15 inch basic model.
Touch-bar, 16 gig ram and 256 gig hdd. I am quiet happy and super excited for it. I have never owned a MAC.

The problem with the Laptop is that the hinge make a rattling noise. Let me explain; when you open and close the lid there is thump / rattle which is really bothering me. I called AppleSupport and they agreed to have it check and repairs free of charge if necessary.

I am in Toronto, ON Canada. I took the laptop for repair and the "Genius" or the green shirt employee (I mean no disrespect) was quiet polite and helpful. I should also mention that I am a bit of a neat freak so I took the laptop with extra care and I had a paper tape on the Apple Logo. There are additional rubber feet in the bottom of the laptop.

I informed him about the issue, he took the laptop in the back in a quiet area and verified that the noise is not normal and it can be repairs for free since the laptop is still under warranty.

The employee check the stock of the replacement screen (This is considered one Unit) and advised that it will take up to 5 days to replace the screen. Well up to 5 business days maximum. There are no other issues with the screen - No dead pixel and no back light bleed or any other issues I can think of. I have heard great things about Apple so I closed my eyes and left the Laptop for repair. I was excited for the laptop to come back good as new.

I dropped off the Laptop just this last Friday.

On Sunday early afternoon, I received a call from store employee stating that the Laptop was purchased from another store ”Jump Plus" and perhaps I can take it there and get it replace as the laptop is only few days old. I called Jump Plus; they said that we do not do exchanges however they can repair it for me. Apple is also willing to repair so I trust Apple more than "Jump Plus". I call Apple back and asked them to proceed with repairs as the other store is only offering repairs. This is now around noon on Sunday - The Store closes at 7 pm.

Around 5 pm, I get a call from Apple Store, stating that good news we did not have to replace the screen. Our technician checked and reseated the hinge and its working perfectly. I am jumping with excitement. I have guests over, I ran and barely made it to the store. I checked in and got the laptop. My brother is waiting in the car so I checked the screen, I noticed slight noise when closing and while the noise when opening the laptop is gone. So I signed and rushed home. Apple Store employees goes just bring it back if any issue comes up. There are literally over 100 people in the store.

I come home and I notices, 2 loose screws, 2 dents at the corner and the screen is making much louder noise. I was not able to test it in a quiet area while at the store. The screen only makes the noise when closing.

While, I was okay with the screen; I figured I would just ask them replace it next time.. .what is pissing me off if the dents and the loose screws.... what kind of careless idiots do they have working for them. I call Apple Support again and they escalate my case to Senior Advisor. He is angry and states that this is not what Apple stands for. Tells me to pack the Laptop Up and take it to the store. There is a memo going to the manager and they will fix it in store no matter what. .
I head to the store after work and showed them the dents, loose screws and the screen and the "manager" goes to me.... there is nothing wrong with it and I can't do anything.. and there is no way this laptop was damaged here.

Now I come home and started a chat with Apple Support at Apple.ca. The girl was very happy to help and says that we will replace it with a new units. My first question was, does Apple do mail in repairs, and she states YES. She bring in the senior advisor and he asked me to send him pictures of the Laptop. I took fresh pics and sent them over. He asks for the Address, says we will replace the unit and boom then goes... OH SORRY WE DO NOT DO MAIN IN REPAIRS for CANADA and cuts off the chat. ...

I am going to call tomorrow morning and speak to someone again, Now I am at a tipping point... I may loose my temper.... But I need Help from Gaf or anyone ...

Any advise.

Can we see a pic of these dents?

And apple.ca does not have support. Had to return an iPhone purchased from there. The Apple store near me couldn't do the exchange and I had to mail it back to Apple.ca. The kicker is that I still had to take it to the store so they could process the return and mail it back for me.

Sounds weird, maybe take it to an Apple store again, at Sherway or Square One if not Toronto again?

I've had great experience at Apple stores here, I've had an obviously water damaged iPod Touch replaced and the entire display half of my MacBook Pro replaced.

Apple Stores have to take note of the physical condition when they take in any repairs. You should have gotten that documentation emailed to you when you dropped it off the first time. If under the "physical condition" section there is nothing about missing screws or dents take it back and demand they make it right. I mean also the main issue isn't fixed so you have that as well

Dude took a chisel to you MacBook. Was expecting a little Knick or something. I would complain too since it will likely hurt resale value.

Dude probably did it because he saw the way you taped up the Apple logo like that. Raise a shit at the store, threaten to get your local consumer rights or fair trading organisation involved. I hope Canada has decent consumer rights laws.
