Weird, everyone that's played it seems to think it's a) the best in the series, b) one of the best action games on PS2, and c) fucking amazing.

Well it suffers from serious cheese.

this is really not surprising PSM are MAJOR MGS fanboys I mean MAJOR, they gave MGS2 a 10/10 too.

still good for MGS3:S can't wait for that game.

That's because all of them deserve 10's. Doesn't make them fanboys, just means they know how it goes. :)

The media loved MGS2 before they realized the public wasn't so hot on Raiden, then they did a 180 and started ragging on it so as to not lose street cred.

I hear it's a pretty good game too. But, I guess a little thing called DMC3 setting the bar happened. Especially if Randy Nelson did the Oni 4 review since he gave DMC3 a 9.5.

I still think it's weird comparing the two at all. Onimusha 4 feels so much more like a methodical action RPG than DMC3. Not only that, but Onimusha 4 gives you vastly more customizability, and access to a partner in the battlefield.

I just find the two a bit dumb to compare.

you could said that about MGS1 or MGS3 and I will certainly not argue with you, but MGS2 was a 10/10 until you finished the tanker part after that it went from a 10/10 to a 8/10 imo. Not because of Raiden mind you, the tanker was awesome because of the attention to detail that part had, can't really say the same of the plant chapter.

Is this the one thats meant to have PS3 games previewed ?

PSM has been previewing PS3 games for months, FWIW. They have Stranglehold in this latest issue. OPM must have finally gotten the official "okay" from Sony to start covering PS3 games and are milking it. :lol

SolidSnakeX is right. They love MGS. They had the first info on the setting for MGS4, IIRC.

I think the tanker portion was one of the best parts, the other being near the end when you team up with Snake. The gameplay made up for any shortcomings some of the level designs had though.

PS mags in general though seem biased toward MG. OPM even gave Kojima the cover of the issue to just talk about himself. Which shows what Kojima meant when he said MG = PS to him.

My eerie supernatural abilities are coming up on the kasavinspot MGS3S review....*massages temples*

The Good: It's an improvement!

The Bad: It's a rerelease of MGS3! NOT ENOUGH INNOVATION.

Huh? In which world? It's definitely the best in the series imo, but I haven't heard a single person say the latter two. There are literally a DOZEN action games better on the PS2 alone, since any action game where you can JUMP is an improvement over Shin Onimusha. It's also the lowest budget Onimusha yet. Have you even actually read the impressions and reviews we've been writing? :P

I've played Oni DoD and no - it's not the best in the series, not one of the best action games on PS2 and no, not fucking amazing...

For me: Onimusha 1>Oni3>Oni2>Oni DoD

It's well executed and some of the things they've done are quite good, but they've turned it from action-survival-horror in a samurai setting to action-fest in a samurai setting. They took away what made it original and turned it into just another DMC clone done not as good as the original DMC (3).

The Good: Improved controls.

The Bad: Story is the same as MGS3:SE, outdated gameplay.

Y's PSP rocks!! YAY!

+ Crisp, clear graphics, easily archetypal heroes and villians, and simple gameplay

- Occasioanlly leaves you not knowing where to go; too many enemies

"It's easy to play this game a little bit at a time, which makes it perfect for "

It seems loadtimes were fixed. And the game is only 29.99!!! Go out and buy it!!!

I guess my little pep talk with Koonami worked. Who says that fans can influence the industry. I'm glad that the game will rock now let just hope for the sales. So we can get more Ys here in US.

I'm glad one review actually "gets it". I liked the PS2 version a lot and I'm a big Ys fanboy... definitely gonna pick it up soon (possibly today!) and I am REALLY feeling that price!
