the heyman ponytail count as holding on too long?

That's more iconic part of the character ala Hogan's skullet and Savage's trials with balding. Madness hairline?

Neville was more important than we thought, friends.

How was LU tonight?

Neville and the Lucha Dragons are pretty big losses for a roster that has like 10 really good wrestlers and a bunch of guys who aren't ready yet.

Meltzer on GFW

GFW needs New Japan pretty bad. AJ and the Bullet Club guys are people he could build around, Roderick Strong and Chris Masters would be good guys to get but I can't see building a promotion around either of them.

Finished watching Okada/Goto.

Smh.

Goto damn near killed Rainmaker and he loses to a fucking clothesline. I like Rainmaker but this match was just plain ridiculous.

Turning Lana American would pretty much remove the appeal. People like the Russian in skirts, not another blonde Diva in generic ring gear.

I'm interested in a Booker T show. More interested if he gets Straight Shootin' Stevie to cohost, and make it call in. It'd be like Car Talk, but for wrasslin.

The plan is to keep the Lana name, although there has at least been talk of C.J. (Her real name is Catherine Jo Perry), with the idea C.J. makes people think hot blond because of the character Pamela Anderson played in “Baywatch.”

Change her name as a reference to Baywatch in 2015 brehs.

They'd be dumb to have her wrestle. Make her the babyface GM of Raw or something.

NXT's main problem is that it basically spent a whole year building the promotion around the rise of Zayn, only to have him yanked off TV for the last set of tapings. You can tell they don't really want to get fans invested in Balor being on the show because they want him and his merch on the main roster, and Itami is still limited in what he can do until his English gets better and he gets fully acclimated to the WWE style. Meanwhile, the Dubstep cowboys are alright, but bland, Dempsey and Corbin are both green and boring, Solomon Crowe has one of the most catastrophically bad looks I've ever seen, Alex Riley is a pointless waste of space, Sasha can only wrestle the same small group of actually ready women so long before it gets stale (she is absolutely wonderful though, no question), Enzo and Cass are just treading water until they fire Los Matadores to make room for a comedic tag team on the main roster, and bringing in over-the-hill midcarders as the NXT equivalent of "grumpy old men slapping the young ones around" doesn't really work. Kevin Owens does good work, but a glowering schoolyard bully heel can't really carry a show the way a likable underdog like Zayn can.

Also, given it took Sami a whole year to finally "win the big one", having him lose the title in his first defense to a guy he's been feuding with for like a decade, while somewhat interesting in an abstract storyline sense, really deflates the emotion of his win, as it makes it seem like it was more of a fluke dependent on him facing another vanilla midget than a display of true skill. Might have been smarter to have both guys feud with other guys leading into that February special, let their friendship develop on-screen, then do the Owens betrayal after Sami's first defense, when you've established that he's a true winner and a real champion. Storyline works basically the same - Owens is trying to work his way up the card before his time, Zayn is betrayed by his friend right after a big win, all that good stuff.

Some more WWE news:

We noted before that both Samoa Joe and Jim Ross were in Orlando for last week's WWE NXT tapings and that Joe met with Triple H about coming into the company. Joe is still expected to start with NXT in June but it was described to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter as not confirmed for June just yet. This could be due to the various pre-signing tests talents have to go through. Ross also talked with the company about working on different projects together while he was there.

The on and off Jim Ross relationship continue.

Looking up info on Baywatch since I never watched it myself and wow, a lot of fuckery took place on that show. Apparently Hasselhoff's character had an undead rival played by Shang Tsung.

I might have to dig this shit up.

I hope they do more specials for him. I enjoy hearing his "Behind the scenes" stories. I went to one of his shows live last year, same format, but he was talking about going to a gay stripclub in Europe.

Evidently the disappearance of the curb stomp has to do with advice from the legal department, likely from the fallout of the concussion lawsuits. The move was also removed from his entrance video, and when they show clips from WrestleMania, the curb stomp is no longer the finishing move that laid out Lesnar and Reigns.

tbh i was surprised the curbstomp was allowed. right before the ban i was telling someone the wwe must be loosening up for allowing it. Guess they're not, or one of their sponsors didn't like it.

oh well, at least we got that great Orton wrestlemania spot with it before it was gone

Tonight's NXT felt like a noticeable step up from the last few episodes they had. Didn't feel like they were spinning their wheels nearly as much and finally found some traction for the May not-PPV
]

Wasn't tonight's episode the first one taped since before Wrestlemania? or do I have that wrong?

Tonight's episode and the next two leading up to the special are all from last week's taping. All three episodes were a lot better than the last batch since they actually have something they're building to now.
