ARC Raiders might have 12 maps at launch...

12 would be weird. Unless it is a smash hit, I could see problems with consistantly filling up that many maps at launch. Best to release them over time, imo

12 does seem hard to believe but they could rotate their availability if that becomes an issue. IE Only 5 maps are available at any time...New map rotations every 6 hours...

Content, content, content.

that's a way to do it. but 12 maps just seems unrealistic due to scale. the maps they have in the beta are already pretty large and complex.
12 maps of similar size and complexity seems unrealistic.

if they have maybe smaller maps that serve a different purpose maybe... that could be a thing.
maybe there will be maps that are 1/4 of the size but will only be PvP with super high level loot on a condensed scale where you almost guaranteed have to be either the last, or among the last 2 or so squads standing to have a chance to survive

I think you would just be throwing out too much content at once. I barely have grasped any of the 3 levels in the beta. Just gradually release them, so players have a chance of learning the levels

I agree, it doesn't make sense if you're viewing it from a traditional perspective.

Everyone at Embark knows having 4 or 5 maps at launch, with a new one every 3 - 6 months, is the accepted practice. An accepted practice that would lighten the workload for their map designers.

However...

If they have 8 or 9 big maps at launch and 3 or 4 mini maps too, it would mean they considered the accepted practice, rejected it, and pushed for some hyper ambitious monstrosity because they thought the effort was worth it.

I'm probably getting light headed sniffing all these ARC Raiders fumes. It would be nice if Embark held an hour long developer / ARC Raiders introduction like Bungie did.

I think seven would be a good number of maps for launch.

The maps already revealed have been great.
