"For the same reason you should believe a hundred dollar bill is no more than a hundred pennies." :lol

It was alright. Performances on late shows are generally unrepresentative of what the band really sounds like. Not completely, but the sound is just...off.

Awesomeness!, I've had their album for a whil but i've never seen them live before, quite cool, especially when the lead singer got hit in the face with the drum stick. i love that spontaneity. btw they played neighborhood #2.

Oh my GOD. Beforehand, I didn't really like them. I heard a few songs, but nothing really amazing. I sat there, the entire performance, mouth agape. I'm still giddy over how unbelievably awesome that was. I'll be buying this album ASAP.

Are the rest of the songs on there as good as Neighborhood #2?

Jesus, I can't get over it. The two guys going absolutely insane on the random percussion pieces... but it sounded so melodic. And how the second violinist fell to his knees around the end of the song.. I'm so amazed by this band that I that was sub-par.

their live show is amazing! i was so-so on their album, some good songs, but I heard so many great things about their live show. Even with high expectations, it was awesome. well worth seeing them anytime.

Aw, I missed it! They are my favorite band and (obvously) their album is my favorite ever, not only do I love every song, I love every moment of every song. I've been wanting to see them live for so long.

My roommate just came from their show here in NYC tonight and they mentioned that they went on Conan b/c Maroon 5 cancelled at the last minute. :lol

Went to see them last week in Atlanta, and this guy has his own one man band called Final Fantasy that opened for them and he was amazing. I meant to buy his album but I forgot to before I left, so I'm gonna have to get a copy from a friend that was at the show.

I can understand somebody not liking their album all that much, but if anybody comes away from their live show unimpressed, that would just blow my mind.

That was a pretty good show tonight. The guests were great, and I really liked Conan's stories about Carson.

Dunno how true that is--they're scheduled for the third.

man, if element's rip is any indication of the audio, the engineers totally destroyed it. overmic'd the vocals, undermic'd everything else. those guys were going crazy on percussion and all they got was a little whump every once in a while. i wonder if they even bothered listening to the record before the show? you can't mix stuff with energy like you do shitty autotuned teen princesses.

the audio from my clip was directly from tivo > mp3 LAME
It was pretty poorly mixed, but I think it has more to do with that the show really didn't know what was going on. They weren't setup to follow the percussion guys at all with the camera.

Still makes me want to see them again.

i think they're overrated, but that's a fuckin' awesome performance.

Holy shit, one of the percussion guys threw a drumstick at the guitarist's face! :lol

I don't think TV sound mixers are used to covering bands that large.

This clip makes me want to see them again so badly. That was probably the best show I went to last year. Well, maybe Menomena was. That show really surprised me.

I saw that the first time I watched the clip and thought I must have been seeing things.

Then the second time, I saw in the background that the two crazy bastards with the drum sticks were actually hitting eachother (and one seemed to be beaten to the ground) with them just before.

Interesting stuff.

Those crazy french canadians.

I just checked and it seems they've already passed through town. That sucks. One more band added to the need to see live list.

edit: I should mention I love their album but seeing that video just made me want to see them live, even more so than before.

That's a crazy fuckin' performance.

They've played four times here in the last few months, and I still haven't seen them. Damn shows sell out too quickly.

Apparently, David Byrne joined them onstage for an encore in New York. I know. That's what I said, too.

From another forum:

"in the encore, second song, they all switch around what instruments they have and leave the center mike open - and david motherfucking byrne walks out to insane applause, and they play "this must be the place".

i can really die happy."

Bowie and Clapton were in attendance, too.

Yeah, I fucking read that. What the fuck is David Byrne doing supporting a shitty, overrated piece of shit bandaWOurdawuerhfujwaeshrfiuwsehjtf GOD DAMN IT

Yeah, I don't like them. Leave me alone. I have This Must be the Place on repeat. David Byrne can come to my dorm room and sing it for me.

he sings pretty well for what he is doing with his voice if you ask me.

No, he doesn't.

That was an excellent performance, though. The album is quite stale, but I wish I would have catched one of ther NYC dates. I was supposed to get tixx for the Irving Plaza show but they sold out within hours..

I don't get all the love for this band. Finally got around to checking out their album after all the GAF praise and it's a very big meh overall.

and most people agree that the album is alright. A good effort. Has a couple good songs. But it is TOTALLY different when talking about their live show. They are awesome live.
