Archer Macleans Mercury impressions...

Yeah, I heard that. I was disappointed. According to the article, though, the analog stick works just as awesomely.

I wish it wasn't tossed, though. That would have been an interesting novelty.

Sony can showcase the analog stick/nub with a game like this - "hey, that DS doesn't even have one!"

On the other hand, they can showcase the awesome viewing angle of the screen with the tilt sensor - it would be unplayable on the DS, even if technically viable.

I don't know how technically viable it would have been. According to the article the game uses 90% of the PSP power just figuring out how the blob should react to situations. It seems pretty awesome from that standpoint.

Whoa this game sounds really cool, after reading that i'll probably get it when in comes out in Europe/Australia

That could also mean that their physics engine is bloated. The XX% power stuff just means it is using XX% of available CPU cycles. You could say any game with slowdown is using 100% of a systems power...... That is what the PS/PS2 system analyzer did.. just displayed what percentage of available CPU cycles you were using.

Oh, no doubt. Still, it could still mean it isn't technically feasible on less powerful systems. In fact, the article makes note of that.

They actually have the prototype of a tilt sensor already working with the game. Edge editor had a chance to play it like that.

Are you sure about the tilt sensor? The article as I read it says this:

There is a downside, however, with some of the scope of the project being limited for the time being (ah, the glory of sequels), with the game's mooted tilt sensor add-on still not confirmed for the time being, although the plan is to press ahead and pull out all the stops to make sure it ties in with release. Even if it doesn't make it, though, the plan is to make the game backwardly compatible if and when the peripheral sees the light of day.

It's possible they edited the article to reflect the uncertain possibility of the tilt sensor being produced, rather than the outright cancellation.

Interesting development.

I'm very glad to hear they've gone gold, as announced through this article. Hopefully means its a lock for US release. Gives 'em time to focus on getting that tilt sensor in the package.

...the team can't even use the dev systems without Sony's say-so, requiring log on authentication between the studio and Sony before they can even be used.
What? Is this a requirement for all PSP dev kits?

If the game has already gone gold, wouldn't that suggest they'd be ready to release soon? Why go gold now if you've still got at least 2 months to work on the game if it's for the expected EU/NA launches? So either they're launching it in Japan first or EU/NA release is sooner than expected...?
