I haven't watched any of the new season yet but I just stopped in the middle of season 4 because I just couldn't take all of its good jokes being mercilessly run into the ground. I feel like more so than the previous seasons.
I heard that Archer S5 was different but is it really that different?
Some of it is just as bad as S4, and there were some new (unfunny) jokes added to the rotation that seriously hurt momentum until the past four or so episodes, which have been consistently good. The Rules of Extraction is one of my favorite episodes of the series, nevermind the season. Starting with Smuggler's Blues it started to improve (and outside of outlaw country and coke-Pam garbage has been genuinely funny).
It sits alongside S4 as one of the weaker seasons, but there are enough good moments that I'd say it's worth watching (or at least worth watching the good ones).
Off hand, the S4 eps I thought were good:
Midnight Ron (I know it's not a popular choice, but I thought it was great)
Once Bitten
Coyote Lovely
The Honeymooners
Sea Tunt: Part II
I loved the opener for The Papal Chase, but it lost traction after the title sequence. That's it really, the rest I thought were middling (Fugue and Riffs, Legs) or plain bad (Viscous Coupling, Live and Let Dine).
"the sinister gay kabal". Neat.
"cabal"
The actual word, not the MK character.
