Are there any damn 800 numbers for EA?

The tech support number for The Sims 2 is not only long distance, but it's apparently got so many callers that they say to call back later, and hang up on you. They don't even let you hold, they hang up on you.

I hate this god damn company. They should be burnt to the fucking ground.

That would be girl ;) and my big talk (which is rare for me) it's only because I have a connection to the guy who purchases and manages the phone lines/trees there and handles tech support.

His answer: They don't have an 800 number for non subscription based games because they offer free web support. Also right now they are receiving over 5000 calls a day for Sims 2 alone, which is being handled by a team of eight people. Needless to say they have to turn calls away.

Support for common issues is posted at techsupport.ea.com. He's willing to bet the problem has to do with trying to run it below specs, and that just won't work with this game. You have to meet all specs. You can also e-mail for specific support, and turn around time is usually 24 hours, but with the current rush he says expect it to be a couple of days.

He says if you post the problem and your computer specs to the board or PM me he'll see about getting you an answer when he goes to work tomorrow. If he's feeling nice he could have someone CALL YOU. So please don't cop a 'tude.

Massive flood of calls about them no longer supporting Zero Hour. "I think what I'm saying is like...EA, like, sucks my balls."

No Zero Hour was not factored into the call count. That's another 'team.'

And yes they need a larger team. He's hiring for it now, and upset because he told them so. Now I need a drink after listening to his rant.

And crossing my fingers that my free copy runs on my system! My beta version did.

OMGHI2U! (sorry, it had to be done :p)

And 8 people? Hmm, let's see-- oodles of copies sold and they can't hire a couple of dozen more workers, even temporarily? Smells like corporate chicanery to me. :D

EDIT: At least it's in the process of being remedied. :p

I'm not going to disagree on that count. But cut the guys that are there busting their rear a break. Sometimes seeing actual numbers and backlogs are the only way to reach the much higher ups...
