Are there any Xbox vs PS2 graphical comparison screens around

Agent Icebeezy

Welcome beautful toddler, Madison Elizabeth, to the horde!
I've found some Splinter Cell ones. I'm looking for more. I need to destroy this fanboyish comment someone made to me and others

i have both games sitting in front of me right now and Ratchet and Clank does not look that bad and looks just as great at RE4

If any info, thanks in advance

What is the conclusion to this thread?

If you do a top 10 for technical prowess within each system's library, it's really not fair. Burnout 3 probably doesn't crack the top 25.

At first glance the PS2 shot of Burnout 3 does look nicer... but upon examining it its nowhere near as good. The sparks are the only thing which could be classed as an improvement really. The shot posted is kinda jaggy and the blur doesnt stand out so much which made it look clearer... but the Xbox shot has a nice motion blur with superior detail showing still.
Wonder why they made the PS2 have glowing sparks and not the xbox... they do look nicer. They just stand out more, regardless of being less realistic.

It seems the ps2 version of BurnOut3 looks better I'm talking about an overall cleaner, more vibrant look.

Dude remove those goggles you have on, the jaggies on the PS2 screens are horrible.

Both are good looking games but the Xbox pics are much crisper.

Just look at the buildings and car models.

This list lacks a title called Metroid Prime.

I wouldn't call Metroid Prime a technical marvel, but it has astoundingly good art direction and smart modeling. It's just a series of large, interconnected rooms, which makes it much easier to maintain 60fps.

let's stop the spark madness before it begins anew. :lol This was old back in september.

Yes its a little bit jaggier...
But the colors look more lively.
I'm sure in motion it can't keep up.
I never played burn out3 ps2 I own it for XB.

Suprisingly side by side you couldn't tell XBox is a beast compared to ps2.

See, metroid prime and especially prime 2 will look fantastic 5 years from now, you can't say that for many of the other titles. You know why? Because Metroid Prime 1/2 has fantastic art whearas most of the other games fancy on technical prowl which will look tacky in the future. Bump mapping and normal mapping will look horrible compared to what we will be used to then while game that put more focus on art will always look good. You can already tell, put a high end console game from 2002 next to Metroid Prime 1, chances are, metroid will look as good or better now.

Wait, isn't burnout 3 a game developed for PS2? So how is the Xbox version going to look much better, unless the developer rebuilt it for Xbox?

Xbox is just a more powerful system. PS2's best game looking games, such as Ratchet and Clank/jak 3, have very simple/nonexistant textures, low quality/nonexistant AA/AF, and simple Pro logic II sound. Xbox is a quite a bit ahead in texture quality, and has true Dolby 5.1. Ninja Gaiden, DOA3, and Halo 2 should have made this evident...

However, PS2 clearly wins in the game department.

I don't feel like screen picking from a bunch of websites but Find a shot of DOA 2 hardcore and compare to DOA 2 ultimate , or even DOA 3.

Find a pic of Devil May cray and compare it to Ninja gaiden , even devil may cry 3 if you must .

Look at GTA double pack for Xbox and compare it to the PS2 version.

To find the PS2 better looking in any instance would infer that you are in fact blind in the tits. I should add that the few games which seemingly look no better in screenshots tend to run 60 FPS without slowdown on Xbox but are chopptacular on PS2. There are very few games which look better on PS2- Metal Gear solid 2 is definetly one of them though, but regardless of the system that game looks dated nowadays.

I'm wondering exactly why you want an Xbox vs PS2 pic if you are comparing RE4 to R&C, a PS2 and GCN game. Also judging from the quote you are over reacting a bit. The guy obviously does not literally mean RE4 and R&C are even in terms of graphics.

R&C is a beautiful title though.

I think Onimusha 3 looks quite good...Don't know if RE4 is miles away from it but the graphics didn't bother me :) They were pretty good.

Yep...they were way cooler but since he was comparing RE 4 with PS2 games I though 3D backgrounds were required.
I am sure a lot of people also loved the pre-rendered backgrounds of RE/RE0.

In motion, however, I really do think the PS2 version is a bit nicer looking. The sparks are not the only difference. The blur filter used on PS2 really stands out a whole lot more and looks fantastic (it really looks like a blur on PS2 and more like motion "trails" on XBOX). That is a bigger issue than sparks, I'd say. When both are running in 480p, the PS2 version is a bit sharper while the XBOX version is most certainly softer. Both have excellent image quality, so it really comes down to which type of image quality you prefer. I actually finished the XBOX version, though, as the loading was faster and I could use custom soundtracks (thank goodness), but I prefer the visual quality of the PS2 release. It just has more of an arcade racer look (where aggressive mipmapping was not common)...
