I doubt the Switch will have features like DirectStorage and the like.
At least Nintendo allows 3rd party memory like a decent company would do.Yes, absolutely.
Nvidia will be having some kind of decompression block, via I/O for asset streaming, load times etc, which will require mandatory game installs onto your primary storage.
No cart or any physical media in existence currently has read speeds in GB/s.
All we know for now is that 256 GB SSD that comes with the console will be filled up within the first week for most Switch 2 players.

Unless they use some kind of high speed card for switch 2 all will need to be internal to be work like xbox and PS counterparts I would have thought.
I hope the older Switch 1 games will somehow use the extra power even if not patched.
This is my stance as well.I'm hoping for whatever helps the loading times.
I think we should expect UFS 3.1, which is 2900 MB/s. We can pray for UFS 4.0 which is 5800 MB/s, but that is a 2022 standard; probably too expensive for Nintendo. UFS is NAND flash like NVMe, just without that specific interface.Yes one upgradable NVME.
I would expect the games to still be able to run directly off the cart. I also expect that carts to be smaller and even easier for kids to lose.If Nintendo is using UFS and SD Express as rumored then the Switch 2 carts will be fast enough to load directly off the cart
This is what I expect for physical Switch 2 games, there's no reason to install from cart to SD card
Switch 2 CAN NOT release without a 1TB drive. But hey its Nintendo, you prob gonna get 256GB at best.
That would be terrible if Switch 2 were expected to get all big AAA titles day 1, same day as PC and XSX|S / PS5. These titles would be held back by the lowest common denominator (0.8 GB/s vs 5.5 GB/s and it is not like Switch 2 will pack like 32 GB of RAM to make up for it either)… and lots of modern engines still have to fully exploit SSD I/O capabilities too…The rumor mill suggests that the Switch 2 carts will be based on Samsung SD Express technology, which is capable of 700-800 MB/s. That should be more than sufficient to run most games from the cartridge without needing to install them on the internal storage.
The new cartridge probably will be faster than today's. Chances are that will be native 1440p or more, so more space, more speed requiredA cartridge is not that far off from a MicroSD.
I doubt they don’t allow the use of MicroSD cards.
