Will you buy a PS6 if there is a reasonable alternative to you?

They closed Liverpool (Psygnosys), and I was like "well… it's been a rough generation". They closed Evolution (Psygnosys part II), and I was like "well… they come from a rough generation…" Then they closed Japan and I was like "well it's been a while since Gravity Rush 2". But then a generation of doing nothing but GaaS and safe boring bets. Announcing that they are doing a Gravity Rush movie (the fucking nerve). And finally king piece of shit today announced that they are closing the guys that have only been but consistent. All while drowning in money. To me PlayStation is gaming. The collection of games that I have is mainly of that system and most of them are just waiting that these assholes decide to implement backward compatibility. But maybe the wait is futile and I'm seriously thinking that I can no longer trust them with anything.

Regardless of what I do I think that they've decided that consoles are not a business anymore and they are burning all the bridges expecting a different result than a corporation 20x bigger than them.

I think I'm going all in on my PC upgrades instead.

Pc + Switch 2 will have me covered, even if I have to wait a couple of years for the PS ports.

While I've liked the console experience, Sony has been abysmal as an actual game publisher. There's been a few games I've liked here and there, like Gravity Rush and Puppeteer, but they've largely been irrelevant to me for almost 20 years and that's coincided directly with them focusing on Western studios. Now, the hardware is shit, too.

So like... yeah, I'll give Sony another chance when they have something good to show, but they're pretty awful these days and haven't inspired much enthusiasm in a long, long time for me. I don't have a lot of hope for the PS6, as it doesn't look like they're intent on bucking any of these trends or firing the people causing them to fail.

I know there were some of us after Psygnosis clothes that they will never give this piece of crap company on other chance. I actually don't remember anybody saying that actually. And I actually think this studio should never be compared to a studio like that as they had a much better track record.

Sometimes I think people are like 17 to 25 and have some weird internet emotion and not able to process these things. If it was a studio that was around for 30 to 40 years that once made some darlings we can properly eulogize them. Blue point doesn't deserve that treatment. Nor these rounds of threads that are looking for any drama to extract some kind of cred.

You can look for me in any of these blue point game threads or the games that they put out and I might have had some interest or not been against it but I'm not some champion for that company nor have I ever been hater.

You'll be alright get a ice cream.

Who cares - better kick-off garbage (non-performing studios), than keep it at your place
Sony do it for over 20 years
Better than what MS did with 343

I'm not selling my PS5 Pro any time soon, but I've got less reasons to buy PlayStation games than ever. I'll just keep renting PS5 games from Gamefly this gen and we will see if Sony gives a shit about trying to win folks like me back for next gen.

No, but my choice of platform is a fart in the wind with the tens of millions of FIFA and COD players still subsidizing Hermen and co.

More than anything it makes me think about how lucky they are they didn't have these colossal mistakes last gen, the GaaS strategy and all that. Sony's very fortunate that Microsoft messed up so badly with the Xbox One, the most important gen ever due to the rise of the digital library, that they were allowed the leeway to do just about whatever they wanted this gen and it wouldn't matter because they were given the ball at the 1-yard line. This Bluepoint closing and the inevitable future closings of whoever won't even be a blip on the radar because they have no competition now. Anyone swearing them off after this is lying to themselves… you'll be back.

I don't care what Sony does with their first party. PS4 and PS5 are cheap closed-garden PCs that play multiplat games pretty well at low to medium settings. As long as they keep doing that, the average casual consumer will keep buying them.

Christ, some of you are acting like teenage girls going through your first breakup.

I'll still play multiplatform games on PC, and I'll still play Sony games (that I'm interested in) on PlayStation. Kojima's Physint (aka not-MGS) is still a PS exclusive as far as we know, and that's reason enough to get a PS6 for me.

No, I switch to PC back when they started censoring Japanese games on their platform and haven't looked back. I'll take better graphics, better performance, mods, emulation, and a bigger variety of games over disappointment.

When I was a teenager, I bought everything Sony-related. Got the Sony Bravia, the PS3, the PSP, I had a Sony Playstation "stand" and every imaginable accessory (remember the fucking "Move? I even role played in Home... and bought some cosmetics for that insufferable shit.

Bought the (two) PS1, (three different) 2, (2 different) 3, (three models of) PSP, Vita, 4, 4 Pro, 5 and 5 Pro.

I'm done.

This guy owns my wallet in the future. I'm already a PC/Sony gaymer, but from today I'm officially going full PC/Nintendo.

My biggest library is Xbox, so the Xbox Steam Machine hybrid thingy will be perfect for me to be done completely with Sony.

my whole favorite thing was play anywhere titles that I could both on my xbox and pc with the same saves. Thats the biggest reason I am excited to see what the next xbox brings.

Sony is little more than Polyphony Digital to me these days. I have a huge digital library via PSN, so I'll probably always have a PlayStation in my household.

There won't be a reasonable alternative. I buy their consoles to play their AAA first party games day one as I already own a very powerful PC. I don't see that changing with the PS6 unless they decide to start launching games on PC day and date which I never see happening.

They are ALL fucked at this point. Gaming is not in a good space. Sure, there are some games on the horizon to look forward to, but the people in charge across the entire industry are all useless and I don't know how any of them got their jobs.

Besides, maybe Gabe N, who seems to know how to treat his user base well, but Valve aren't really making games anymore so they are out of the conversation.

They are all going to systematically fuck up the industry and cause a crash. Indies are great, but the market won't survive on them alone.

I'm keeping my PS5 Pro but hardly use it. PC is my main and this may have solidified that the PS6 for me won't be a purchase I spend on.

I don't like this consistent loss of talent and jobs by all these acquisitions and lack of sticking to what works. No one asked for GAAS, and I would love to see the numbers on how they would have made all these survive.

I will keep my PS5 since its pretty good and its amazing to play 3rd party titles. But for me Sony was over waaaay back already, this specific case only reinforced my choice.
All my investment is going to Nintendo. PS5 will probably be my last Sony console.

Probably not, idk. I game 95% on a PC anymore. I have a PS5 because I actually prefer couch gaming on a big TV, but the graphical and frame rate difference on PC is just too good to ignore. I still would love to play sony exclusives, they just don't really make them anymore at least not ones that appeal to me. It's been over a year since I've even turned my PS5 on personally to play anything. I think the GOW sequal was the last one I played. Didn't love the first Spiderman or Ghost of Tsushima, I thought both were very average games, so I wasn't chomping at the bit to play the sequels. Overall, to say this is the most dissapointing generation of Sony games is an understatement. IDK that I'll get another one of their consoles. Honestly, I've played a ton of xbox first party games, but mostly on PC. At least they are putting out single player games I'm interested in. So maybe I'll get their PC/console hybrid they put out next gen just to couch game.

Just recently I bought Forbidden West and Last of US part 1 on Steam.
I might even buy part 2, maybe.
Waiting for Astrobot and Intergalactic and that Xmen game about the guy with the claws.

What kind of stupid quesiton is that? Did Sony kidnap your nephew or something like that? It's business after all, and lots of circuntances made BLuepoint less relevant and older games believe (myself included).
Was it a blunder? Absolutely... but i also beleive bluepoint wanted to be more than they had talent... :-(

I don't think you can give another chance to Sony if you never gave one in the first place, people :messenger_tears_of_joy:
oh I was/am the biggest ps1. ps2, and ps3 fanboy. I bought both anniversary ps4 and ps5 consoles. lol. Its why I still buy playstation consoles even if I only play a few games on them.

No. Their first party is too infested with activism. Horizon, Spider Man, Ghost, Intergalactic, The Last of Us, etc. The only games Sony has impressed me with this entire generation were Astro Bot and Stellar Blade. 3rd party is really the only reason keeping me interested in their platform. If the PS6 isn't too expensive, then I'll buy it, but just like with the PS5, if they continue making games for feminists and the alphabet trash out there, then it'll just be a console to play Japanese, South Korean, and Chinese games with the occasional A or AA Western game from random non-compromised devs.

PSSR 2.o is there chance. If they do it justice and can provide a great experience for Pro owners who shelled out on their promises which hasn't been delivered upon yet I will be good with them as my "CONSOLE" choice.

This is where I'm at as well.
Pretty much my stance. I'll keep my PS5 and just rent. I think I'll always have a PS in my house, but it likely won't be anywhere near a launch, and will have to be a discounted bundle.

Also for the record I've switched to anything multiplayer to consoles, COD, FORTNITE, APEX etc due to 90% of the userbase being equal. Yeah they get a few hacks once in a while, but PC multiplayer bases are just full of hackers, scammers, and toxic culture.

Leaning towards going all PC and just use a Dualsense. They throw everything on there anyway and the next console is going to be stupid expensive

I never think in terms of second chances, only good or bad offers. If they don't meet my expectations, i'll go elsewhere. Or i'll wait for the right moment.

Funny enough, Bluepoint's incredible work on the Demons SOuls remake was the singular reason I grabbed a PS5 console early into the lifecycle in the first place. I expected more epic single player first party games to be delivered by now, not this barren wasteland of GAAS Slop and PS4+ versions of spiderman and ghosts of tsushima.
