Let im sim studio make im sim.

Hopefully no 3rd person demands BS this time.

It's Arkane and no way they will make it 3rd person.
Why not?

The studios' past shouldn't dictate how their new game should be made. The game itself should dictate based on what it needs to succeed and be awesome.

Otherwise, Playground would never have pitched for Fable or Horizon Zero Dawn would be 1st person as well.

They need to look at how the ideal modern-day AAA Blade game should be (if any other dev would have made it), and then try to get as close as possible to that version.

I thought about bringing this up but I figured it wasn't worth it.

A lot of posters here blame devs first and foremost when it comes to failed projects and on top of that people don't believe in second chances.
Prey and Redfall actually share a designer. Colantonio quit after and isn't on Redfall but the guy credited as designer on Prey is one of the directors on Redfall. Interesting to dig into.

Weird West, Colantonio's next game, wasn't great either so my Prey depression keeps deepening.

So they announced this in 2023 and the soonest it's going to arrive is 4 years after that.

I have no idea why Microsoft keeps shooting themselves in the foot with these ridiculously early announcements.

Depends on goals of a studio.

If they want hack and slash action game, 3rd person is better.

For im sim, first person works better. You get better idea of space around you, thats what you are manipulating.

.......

The game has been in pre-production, concepting and prototyping stages. It entered full production in 2024.

Would honestly be interesting to know why pre production takes so long now.
2 console gens ago we used to get new games from studios after 3 years, now it takes them 3 years for concepting and prototyping?

If anything I would have imagined the production part is the one that takes longer, because they need to make higher quality assets, animations, lighting, etc.
It's not like the actual gameplay or mechanics have evolved that much.

So they've spent 3 whole years after Deathloop to prepare a prototype that gets greenlit?

This isn't what happens in the pre-production stage of game development

how have they shot themselves in the foot with this game?

This just seems like a bad idea from an out-of-touch executive.

Posting this a few posts below the excited tweets from the game director…quite the choice indeed

Blade should be an Action-RPG like The Witcher 3 or this upcoming Crimson Desert. Not some Immersive Sim like Deus EX or Dishonored. Nor should it be an action game like Devil May Cry.

I do like Blade and I hope the game is awsome.. problem is that I hated the dishonered games (stealth and FP are not my thing most of the time) ... so lets wait

I think they are safe at least until the game comes out as there probably are contractual obligations with Marvel. After that… depends on the reception and/or MS future strategy, I guess.
I wouldn't guarantee that. Even Disney projects can be canceled mid-production.

For instance, EA has canceled Disney Star wars projects midway, and they recently canceled the Black Panther game, which is also a Disney Marvel IP, and closed the studio.

And man, Microsoft really needs to stop announcing games when none of the actual development work has been done yet.
Even worse, did they make the trailer for the game before the game prototype was greenlit? The trailer came out Dec 2023 and they only started production end of 2024

Prey and death loop were massive successes I absolutely can't wait for blade the video game I would to have it sooner rather than later I really enjoyed prey and death loop.

Critically, yes. But commercially, no. Prey didn't light up the charts and it sucks because it is a hell of a game.

can't recall looking at deathloop numbers but no, Prey made their money back and then some but not massive success for sure.

Immersive sims don't sell, sadly, it's my favourite genre.
