Out today. Anyone pick this up yet? I'm going to get it in a bit. Any impresssions? Special Features etc..

Special features aren't that great. Commentary on one episode on each disc, deleted/extended scenes aren't that funny. It's not that great of a value, aside from the brilliance of the show itself.

Yeah that blooper reel is classic, David Cross rocks.

Such nice packaging for the DVD's, though. I love it, much nicer than the first season.

At the end of the "Righteous Brothers (2x18)" commentary, Mitchell says 'See you all next year'.

Now I don't know much about how TV DVD's are made, but did they just recently do these commentaries, or would they have done them awhlie back? Because the show just got renewed a little while ago. Ah, that's plenty of time to do commentary.

I'm a moron.

haven't watched the season 1 dvd in ages, but when i popped in the S2 episode 1 today, i noticed the "Final Countdown" music when Gob dumps the pennies on the board's table was kind of off. I hope they didn't have to change it out.

Mine didn't show up in the mail today.

Urge to kill Deep Discount..... RISING!

deep discount has great prices, but their shipping sucks. The last time i preordered a dvd from them, it didn't come until like a week after it came out in stores (assuming you used free shipping).

People are buying this for my birthday, and I am going out and buying it for others birthdays.

Can't wait to sit for hours on end.

Actually, this is the first time a preorder from them hasn't gotten to me by or before the release date. I'm kind of shocked it's not here yet.

That isn't The Final Countdown.

question: I just got into the show this season. Picking up this DVD set would be cheaper than the first season. Should I jump right into the second or just bite the bullet and purchase it later? And no, I can't afford both right now...

Gotta start from the beginning or you'll miss a lot of references and jokes.

Start from the beginning, watch, pay attention and rewatch episodes. They actually get better and funnier with rewatching it. You'll start to see all kinds of in-jokes and things you didn't pick up the first time around.

Then pick up S2 afterwards, lather, rinse, repeat. It will all make sense and it will be all the funnier. :) :D

I got screwed. Futureshop was SOLD OUT! This is either a good thing or a bad thing (low ship numbers?) because I've never seen a series sell out there. HMV had it but it was more expensive and I don't like them very much. Anyway, I'm going to order my copy from Futureshop's website since they have them in stock.

Agreed, there really is no point in starting with Season 2. Be warned, if you start with season 1, you will have a strong urge to buy 2 :P Oh and for the record, imho, season 2 is better... and season 3 is evern better than 2 :)

But anyway, the story starts in season 1 so start with that one.

The renewal was announced in May, plus in the first commentary they make reference to the upcoming emmy nominations which are in July. So these commentaries had to have happened sometime between those 2 dates.

Sounds unanimous. Guess I know what's on my agenda this weekend. :D

We will be anxiously awaiting your thread praising this show mercilessly and wondering just how you ever passed it up, not watched it, and lived without it.

I'd get the first to be honest.

Or ask any GAFer in your town to lend it to you?

im not positive, but i think Costco is offering some kind of deal, like $10 off, if you buy both together. Other stores might have similar bargains. But yeah, if you can only get one, get the first season.

Now that I'm rewatching season two again, I think it's amazing how far ahead they give clues to future episodes.

In the very first episode of Season Two,
the news reports that a Seal attacked a swimmer, but Buster doesn't lose his hand until 6 or 7 episodes later. Also, the Poof magazine has Ben Stiller on it (barely noticable), and he doesn't appear until late in the season.

The attention to detail on this show is amazing.

in the third episode, where they go to mexico, Buster
sees his old 'hand chair' (a chair...shaped like a bigass hand) that his mother gave away to the cleaning lady's family and says something like "oh how terrible it would be to lose a hand" or some shit like that

the best part is how the chair hand is a left hand.

The only thing that gets me down about this series is that, when I show it to my kids, they won't understand any of the Saddam and Iraq references.

I need to get these DVDs pronto.
