This has been a Godsend

Is this worth 200$ ? I need a new shaver ASAP. Broke mine a few days ago and I have been using my safety razor for the last few days but it's really hurting my skin :( I need to get the closest shave possible.

Found it for 200$ (+ quebec tx fuuuuuu ) on amazon. I'll just close my eyes and click buy-in-1-click if you tell me it's worth the price.

As a black guy, you should be rocking the king of all hair styles, the high top fade. I wish I could pull one off so badly...

It's worth it. It'll last for years, and you'll never worry about your shave ever again.

When you wake up one morning and suddenly realize you don't dread shaving anymore, you'll see that it really paid for itself.

Just don't forget the Cremo Cream!

Eh I was going to buy it then I read this :(

And yeah apparently the model is defective :(

Just be sure we're talking about the same model. It's the Braun Series 7- 790cc right ?

Worth it all day. I've had that same one for two years. It gives a super close shave, and you can adjust the intensity of the shave if the highest is getting too close.

Edit: I read that review. The foils have to be changed every once in awhile no matter what, that goes for any foil shaver.

I've been using it for 2 years, no problems...

If you decide not to buy a product rated 4.5+ stars over one review, you're using Amazon wrong. In fact, I'd be worried if the reviews were universally positive given its recent plague of sponsored/fake reviews.

I got it for $120, though.

Jesus, Canada.

I'm not black, but always had issues with razor bumps and Gillette style razors.

I use an Andis ciipper now and do a straight razor when I need a super baby face.

Regular barber, everyone else gives me razor bumps. I once tried to shave my head like I saw Andre Agassi did in a commercial, with a box razor and shaving cream.... I wore hats for at least a fortnight, the razorbumps were so bad.

Is this you lol.

Switch to clippers, breh.[/QUOTE]

I'm using clippers. They help with the ingrowns but razorburn is still an issue.

Going to try that Braun trimmer that everyone keeps posting...shit better be worth it.

Ive always gotten my shave from my barber. But recently he started charging me for the cut and shave. So to save costs I got a Phillips Aquatouch shaver. After using it I got a shitton of razor bumps. My friends say it could be poor shaving technique and also pointed out that they all use trimmers because of our hair texture. Should I switcher to a pair of trimmers/clippers or just work on my shaving technique?

I use a razor and use this stuff to prevent bumps. Works fine for me, and I used to have lots of bumps before I used it.

Do you have this exact same model ?

Is it worth it to get the cleaning station ? It's 50$ more lol.

Where ? If it's online I might be able to get them to deliver it here in Canada.

And yeah about that review, I usually don't read amazon reviews and don't care about their rating system with all the fake reviews but it doesn't look like it's not an isolated bad review. Apparently they're aware of the issue with this model and aren't making more of them. Ooh fuck it. I'll sleep on it and I'll probably end up tossing a coin tomorrow.

Edit : Found it for 140$ on amazon.com so I'm definitely buying it there (well if i decide to go for it) and I'll just try my luck with customs.

Yeah, I have the same one. 790cc. I've actually had two of them. First one broke which was completely my fault, and I liked it so much I spent the money to get another. I had a Braun Series 3 for awhile it didnt do anywhere near as good a job and it was flimsy as fuck.

Mine came with the cleaning station and it complements the shaver really well, it's worth it have. But keep in mind you can just run water through it to clean it. the station keeps the blades and foil sanitized and free of gunk. The first time I changed the cleaning station insert, I opened it up and looked into the liquid and was surprised and a little grossed out by all the stuff it had cleaned from the blades. :o

I'm only half black and anything closer than a beard trimmer trim makes my face look like I've got some sort of flesh eating virus.
Luckily I've been told by enough unrelated people that I can rock the scruffy "10 o clock shadow" look that I don't get too insecure about it.
It's necessity, but if I can pass it off as style, that's awesome.

Once shaved my head with a Mach 3, ended up looking like a topographic globe of Mars.

Yeah, like this.

You tried a double-edged razor?

This is what I use. Electric trimmers tore my skin up and I got bumps bad. Clippers aren't bad when I get it from my barber I guess followed by a straight razor.

But most of the time at home? Double edged safety razor. No bumps, no fuss.

Yea, that's what I have. I shape up with that for the goatee.

Then I use:

To actually get that near-razor smooth feel. With no bumps.
This. The Super Close is great. I've used almost all of the razor bumps treatment stuff but definitely get a T-Bar and super close and you're in there. Plus, go with the grain.

Mine came with the automatic cleaning station, but I've never used it. I just run it under the tap when I'm done with it.

Ok you convinced me. Just bought it on amazon.com. Hope it gets here by the end of next week ! Thank you :)

Hate to be the one to have to "go there" but....

It's a pain in the ass at first, but I've been doing it for like 4 years now so it's pretty routine for me.

OP hope that these other tactics work out for you so that it doesn't need to come to this.

I'd also recommend a strong exfoliating cream.

Edit : Oh and, I use this after the shave power/exfoliation ;

Clippers but they don't give you a close enough shave. That dint really bother me tho. Also take better care of your face to avoid bumps

It happens because your hair is so curly, it doesn't push through your skin properly when it regrows.

You need to shave with clippers rather than a blade, because clippers don't shave as close to the skin.

I cannot recommend the Andis T-Liner enough! I tried every electric razor/bump cream on the market and always had razor bumps, until I got the Andis T-Liner.

And since you used to get shaved by the barber, you should know that this is the exact same clippers they use in the barbershop. My barber is the one who recommended them to me.

Also, they are virtually indestructible, I've had mines for 6 years, dropped it numerous times and it still works perfectly.

I combine it with 2 other products:

*Before Shave*

*After Shave*

I trim my facial hair, no razor bumps.

Philips PT920 is my electric shaver and has a trimmer attachment built in.

The beauty of it is that I don't need to put lubricants on my face, just shave as is.

My Dad taught me how to use magic and shave with a damn spoon. Makes your face smooth as hell, but it's a pain in the ass to make. It's why I stuck to clippers.

I've tried that shit so many times. Does nothing. Am I applying it wrong or something, lol?

I shave, wash my face with a hot cloth to get it nice and clean. Splash of cold water and bump patrol. Only applied after a shave. Shave my face 2-3 times a week.

Every black male should own a bottle of this. It's the best on market, within one day all of your bumps will be gone.

Just shave in the direction that your facial hair grows.

The OP mentioned that he is a black man for a reason. The average black man's hair type + skin makes it "problematic" to use certain types of shaving methods, like Gillette Razors with multiple blades. Which is why most resort to either hair removal creams/powders, electric razors, or not shaving at all.

Prior to getting a DE razor I used to use Magic, but the cream vs the powder because the powder was too harsh IMO. I also used Tend Skin or this:

Or this:

Or Bump Zapper depending on what the store had in stock in the "ethnic section". So I will +1 and say all these things work. But I will also say after years of using these, I'm glad I switched to a DE razor. I was finding myself using Magic longer than it recommended on the package in order to get a clean shave, which was anywhere between 10-20 minutes. Between that and the amount of cream I had to use/buying more cream, it got old after a while. With the Wet Shaving method, once I got the razor and brush all I have to do now is buy the blades, which are like 8 dollars in packs of 100, and I change the blade once a week, so I'm spending way less than the Magic Shave method. Eventually I learned how to shave in the shower, using soap (Dudu-Osun African black soap) for lather. So now I don't even use the brush and I don't have to buy shaving cream and get cleaner/quicker shaves every morning.

I use a beard trimmer. I haven't used a razor since I was 19. I got horrible, incredibly painful razor bumps all over my neck. I still have scars from it.

This is the one I've used, I've been using it for about 3 years. I've lost them a couple times and always replace them. I love how the attachement adjusts with a wheel, no dealing with a bunch of parts. If you take of the attachment its really good for edge ups.
