Yeah... this guy is a real winner.

John Ashcroft said:
Ashcroft's Justice Department has been dealt a string of court defeats in recent months calling into question the administration's anti-terrorism strategies. In a speech before the conservative Federalist Society on Friday, he called the trend ``profoundly disturbing.''

``The danger I see here is that intrusive judicial oversight and second-guessing of presidential determinations in these critical areas can put at risk the very security of our nation in a time of war,'' Ashcroft said.

``Our nation and our liberty will be all the more in jeopardy as the tendency for judicial encroachment and ideological micromanagement are applied to the sensitive domain of national defense,'' he said.

So let me get this right: allowing US citizens their constitutionally guaranteed right to counsel, trial by jury of their peers, and freedom of speech is "dangerous and constitutionally questionable", huh?

Fuck you, Ashcroft. And fuck Alberto Gonzales, too. I seriously hope the Dems are gearing up for a serious attack on that draconian fuck. Knowing them, though, they're probably trying to look like they've got "moral values".

Fuck this country. Seriously.

You missed the best part...

The danger I see here is that intrusive judicial oversight and second-guessing of presidential determinations in these critical areas can put at risk the very security of our nation in a time of war.
It's called checks and balances, you fucking moron.

Honestly, I am rarely surprised or upset by anything this administration tries to do or say any longer. They have gotten away with so much, it's hardly a shock to see Ashcroft advocate eliminating the basic precepts that our Government was created under.

It's just a shame that the majority of America won't see it that way, because they won't be fed that particular morsel by the media.

Actually, this is hardly the first time that the Bush Administration has declared that either Congress or the Judicial Branch should just shut up and do what they want.

And THIS, ladies and gentleman, is why John Ashcroft failed to convince voters he was more competent than a cadaver in 2000.

Daft?

Thanks for the new vocabulary word. :)

But seriously...."intrusive judicial oversight"? Quote of the year.

Isn't this a pretty bad thing to be calling judicial review? Without that, then the E branch would be able to go willy nilly with their policies... oh.
